anyone know about half pay??

Hi,

I have been off sick since november 2010, only had 1 and a half months back at work and just had another month off sick. I was down to half pay about a week before i went back for that short amount of time. Does my sick pay start again or will i be straight back to half pay? does anyone know how long you have to be back before full sick pay starts again?

I work for the NHS and their policy is 6 months full pay then 6 months half pay.

Hiya Ruth

All I know is that with this scheme they count the first day you went off sick back in Nov 10, and it's a year thing, so from Nov 11 it starts again. So you'll still be on half pay.
You'll have to speak to the finance people at your company for advice and a print off of all your days off sick.
Don't know whether you're in a union, but my union Unison have an insurance which is £20 a month for eventualities such as this. They top your half pay to full pay after 6 months on half pay, and this is for up to 2 years. It covers illness, disability and unemployment.
I'm doing it and they know about my Crohn's, something to consider for £20 a month.

thanks for the advice, i am with unison too but i never got told by anyone about this, when i was diagnosed i never thought i would be in this situation so it never occured to me to ask about something like that and nobody suggested it to me i will be making alot of phone calls on monday!!x
