Hey Everyone.

I was just diagnosed with Crohn's Disease on 4/20/2011 and I was released from the hospital on the 21st. Now that I have been home the pain has gotten worse and worse... :(

I want to go back to the hospital... Not want... I NEED to go back to the hospital because this medicine isn't working like it should and I am in SEVERE pain.

Is there any other way to get to the hospital beside going through the ER? I am sick of giving these people $150 just to be admitted to the hospital, on top of the medical bills and medicine.

Sad Part: This is with insurance.

I am sorry you are in so much pain and I hope you feel better soon. If I were you, first I would call my gi doc and I know my doc pretty well. He would tell me to go back to the hospital and yes I am sure you would have to be re-admitted and most likely via the E.R
Good luck!

Even if you wandered into the hospital they would take you or send you to the ER unfortunately. I'm sorry you're in so much pain and that the medicine isn't working. You'll also need to contact your GI as suggested or have the hospital do that for you as I'm sure they would. Unfortunately medical bills seem to be another part of the disease altogether. :( You should be able to do some sort of payment plan rather than give it to them all at once.

Thanks for the advice! I have talked to my GI's nurse and she said the same thing. Go to the ER if things get any worse- luckily they haven't!

I used to be admitted staight through from my Drs' office - no going to the ER.....he would pick up the phone and call over to give info on the admit.....see if you doc can do that?

Also - check with your insurance - if you are admitted from an ER visit, should you have the ER co-pay???...doesn't hurt to double check!

Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks so much! After talking with my mother [I am on her insurance] she said that if I am admitted then we don't pay the co-pay for the ER. That really comforts me because I hate having to think about if I can afford to be sick. Well, if my parents can afford me being sick.
