My son is home from college. He is telling me to "buy apples" because he has been eating them and he's fine. If there are no acute (short-term) symptoms, does that mean the food is ok? He was diagnosed about 5 months ago, so he's relatively new to Crohn's. The doctor said no peels, seeds, raw veggies... so I'm just checking.

Thanks!

What I have learned is to eat what I know works - so if your son is telling you apples don't bother him, go for it. I do find that the peels are harder to digest - which is why the doctor would have said no peels.

Bearing in mind that both of my kids are solidly in remission they eat apples with the peel and have no problems with it.

If there is the slightest element of doubt though I would remove the peel.

Dusty. :)
