Are Flagyl tablets supposed to be powdery?

I am taking flagyl and my hands are totally white when touching them. The container also has powder all around. I haven't taken Flagyl in a few years and don't recall if this is normal.
 
That's not normal. I do remember some powder residue on the bottle/my fingers but definitely nothing like you described
 
It's a generic so I'm not sure if some are more powdery than others. I would hope the pharmacist would see something isn't right when filling it but maybe not.
 
The generic, Metronidazole, definitely has a powdery finish to the tablets whereas the brand, Flagyl, has a smooth coating.

My son, whilst not refusing the generic tablets, did prefer the brand and found them far more palatable due to the finish of the outer coating.
