All of my problems have always revolved around the awful diarhea I have had. Constantly running to the bathroom, in pain because I had to go to the bathroom all the time... now I can barely go.

Things started slowing down with the introduction of Humira a few weeks ago and I was thrilled, going once a day very little pain and little to no blood most of the time. Could not have been happier... then it starts this odd, slightly uncomfortable pressure in my abdomen... no big deal though.

Today however I have had an increase in that now slightly more uncomfortable pressure in my abdomen and I am running to the bathroom because I need to go but I feel like I am trying to push a baby out my butt... (sorry guys I know thats gross) but I am having this pain that almost makes me puke and I have to work really hard to actually go but hardly get anything out and it burns like nobodys business.

If its not one thing its another I guess... and on top of everything else I have what feels like a sinus cold coming on. :stinks:

Hello MissBG
Sorry you are so uncomfortable and hope it soon gets better for you.
It might be a good idea to check with your GI and let them know what is happening.
You may also consider going to emergency for some immediate help.
Either way it is important to report it to the medics looking after you.
Feel better soon
Hugs and best wishes
Trysha

i am not a great lover of humira at all but i know of all the side effects it can cause, constipation is very uncommon umongst its users so i wouldnt readily suggest that as the cause. do you take anything with the humira or have you introduced any new pain relief? i notice you take tramadol. has your intake or dosage increased lately?

ive been getting the exact same problem, although im pretty sure humira isnt the isue. its probably a bit of narrowing somewhere.

predfoam might be a good option for you and plenty of stool softners. without stool softners i wouldnt beable to go to the toilet atall. its like pushing a football out of a pinhole.

I had that issue for several months, and even had a strange x-ray where they film you pooping. (And I thought I'd already had every undignified test they could dish out!)

The only thing that gave me relief was miralax once a day, stirred into a morning beverage. Now everything is working as it should. You can get miralax over the counter. But you ought to check with your GI doc, too, in case you have a more serious issue with your gut.

I feel for you, though! I'd rather have the diarrhea than its opposite.

P.S. I don't take Humira -- I've just always had an irritable bowel no matter what.

I was diagnosed in may 2012 i had been such a long year
I have had the same thing it's horrible.
I have had the pushing before I only just started on Humira Christmas Eve.
Hope you start to feel better soon!

Thanks everyone!

I am not sure a stool softener would be the answer... I am not passing hard stools its just difficult to go. It is still loose and as far as the tramadol I only take it very rarely only a few times a month and no I am not taking anything other than the Humira as far as maintenance drugs are concerned.

that sounds like one for the medical experts. we could guess all day but i think proper medical advicewould be the best route here

What is your diet? Are you getting enough fiber? They have different fibers, ones that are non inrritating. I use to take one called Organic clear fiber, it is made from acacia. It is gentle. I also agree though, I would call the doctor. I mean if this just happened after you started takning the humira, it very well could be a side effect from the drug. Drugs have a ton of side effects and they are not all listed. Everyone is different and will react differently. The only reason I say it is likely the drug is because you did not have this issue before you started the drug right?? I definitely would call the doctor though and mention what is happening. Hope you feel better soon.

I have the same problem, i don't have kids but the pain almost feels like what i would imagine contractions to feel like and it does sometimes make me throw up, the docs keep telling me thats not the crohns but that i have IBS on top of the crohns, i get conflicting advice all the time, the docs told me you don't get constipation with crohns but i don't believe that as all the symptoms that go with it are crohns related i was diagnosed in 2003 and its sad but i really can't remember what it feels like to have a normal bowel movement!

That is really what it feels like you are pushing like you have giving birth but there is nothing there to come out.
I think is you mussels being told to push but you really don't need it kind of like a spasm or something like that!
Does any one get pains in there left had side up near there ribs?

Thank you all! Ihurt I never thought about it being a lack of fiber! I am actually feeling better now except for the cold that seems too be getting worse.

Hi, I've been on Remicade, Humira and Cimzia and have that same issue with all of those drugs once they're at a therapeutic level in your system. You said previously that you thought the stool softeners wouldn't likely help. However, the stool softeners while they're OTC stool softeners (I use Walgreen's brand) and I take 4tabs 4x/day and the days I get really backed-up I take 3-5 women's laxatives to get things going. If all else fails, it's over to Walgreen's for a $1 bottle of Mag Citrate to chug (it's like Sprite on steroids). That stuff will clear you out and you'll feel so much better in no-time. I promise. If you absolutely, clearly, absolutely cannot poop than an enima is in need for to sort of "break the seal". I'm all in support for you to take stool softeners (and Miralax is ridiculously expensive so unless you can get a script for it, I suggest not. Plus, I don't know about anyone else but it bloats me horribly and causes horrific pain for me.). I think you should start the stool softeners for a few days a few times/day and give it a shot. Eat an apple with some nutella if needed, or treat yourself to Starbucks for a Caramel Hot Apple Cider (that's a sure bet to get me going in no-time). Once on a regular plan of stool softeners and what works for you then you won't need the laxative, or rarely need it.
I hope this helps.

Sorry to hear you are having pain. I have been on 6mp for several months now which I believe is similar to Humira. Great results, may be worth looking into! Goodluck

My daughter was just hospitalized for that exact thing. She was in so much pain but couldn't poop, they kept telling her to take Mira ax and suppositories but nothing helped. She finally begged me take her to the hospital they ran mre and tons of stool showed but it was up so far.
Skyemarie - her pain is usually on left side by her ribs.
This was diff she was having spasms in her rectum and pressure. Finally I asked for steroid foam enema, to me it seems her rectum was inflamed due to perianal crohns.
Within 5 mins of the foam she pooped like I had never seen before lol
Presto pain was gone no more rectum pain or rib pain. She was released the next day and hasn't needed the foam since. That was in august. Although they gave her steroids I really don't think it was necessary I think the steroid foam was the answer.
Good luck

Yes, all the time and so does another girl I know with crohn's. I don't know what causes it, but usually after I eat. Later in the day. Sometimes all the way around to my back too for days. I hate it! I have looked it up, gone to Er, you name it. Nothing shows up that makes sense. All I can figure is it's in the intestines somewhere!:voodoo::(

Hope you have it figured out by now, just read your thread. Sounds like spasms. Ever tried a drug for spasms your GI can prescribe. Hyocyamine or hycystine works for that. Bentyl also. Let us know!!
Love, T:)

I don't get pain but i get the feeling that I'm on for the most amazing BM of my life. Only to be letdown by the single baby carrot.

Yes, that's another common occurance. You just learn to expect the unexpected ,like when you're in line at Walmart and it hits you. You run to the bathroom and there's people in there, but the big stall is open:dance: YEAH!!!But then you sit gently down and try so hard not to make noise squeaking out a little at a time, but it explodes out of you anyway!!! Flush 3 times while you go.:stinks: Try to sneak out so noone can see who you are!!!:rof::rof::rof:Sad but true!!!
