Are you predisposed to medication side effects?

Some people seem to feel they are sensitive to meds and have bad reactions to them. I have a slightly more complex question about the ways in which people are senstivie to meds:
When you took one of the medications that Crohn's/Colitis patinents regularly get prescribed which comes with a huge long lists of side effects, did you find you got the ones you suffer from or and prone to anyway?

My expereince with prednisone has been I didn't really. I got side effects I wouldn't have thought I was unlikely to get, and symptoms I'm already prone to have not been worsened by the medication despite being listed as among its side effects. I am not really prone to insomnia, but I can't sleep as well on pred. I am prone to facial hair growth (endocrine condition; I control it through hormone meds), but the hair growth I got on pred hasn't been too bad. I have no appetite and am underweight, and prednisone did not give me the hunger and weight gain that so many people experience when they take it. Prednisone can worsen reflux/ indigestion, but despite suffing reflux daily, it didn't get any worse when on pred. I also got mood swings from prednisone - euphoria and feeling restive - not like me at all. I am usually severely exhuasted from my illness, and prednisonse gave me energy.

Some of the official advice seems to assume that pre-existing symptoms are more likely to be exaccerbated by medication. For example, the leaflet I read says if you already have acid reflux you need to be careful of it worsening on prednisone. But this didn't happen in my case, and my assorment of symptoms don't seem to correlate at all with ones I should have been pre-disoposed to.

What meds have you tried? If you got side effects, were they the ones you expected because you were already predisposed to them? Or did it seem like you got side effects which are the complete opposite of your "natural" state, as with many of the side effects I got from prednisone?

Feel free to talk about any meds you take for other conditions as well.
