I have still been dealing with the (suspected) Gutatte Psoriasis that appeared after my bout of strep in March.....anyway - I have a spot on my lower back, just about my bum that has been bothering me more than other spots....at first I just thought it was a GP lesion/spot, but this afternoon it was bothering me more than usual, so I had hubby take a look.....he told me it looked more like a boil!

I tried to get a good look - you should have seen the acrobatics in the bathroom! LOL.....There was kind of a scab that I got off, didn't see any obvious sign of infection, but there IS a good circle of red around the spot - probably 1/4-1/2 inch wide.......I cleaned it up with peroxide, and will check it again before bed.....

Should I be more concerned about this than I currently am? I am on remicade, but I do also have a Dr appt tomorrow afternoon to discuss my next colonoscopy....thinking of bringing it up with her?.....

Sure bring it up with her. I don't have any personal experience with that sort of thing so I'll have to do some research of my own and will try to get back to you soon with what I find. I know my boyfriend gets boils often and he was told that once you start getting them its easier to get them and more often. My other thought was that maybe that's where toilet paper makes its first contact with your body when you wipe and maybe its irritated from that (from going frequently). Something similar happened to me so I didn't let the TP touch that area anymore and it got better with a little Neosporin and the help of butt wipes. :p I'll get back to you shortly though.

Is it just at the the top of your bum crack (natal cleft)? It could be a pilonidal sinus (cyst) and it is normally caused by an ingrown hair.

I think it is a good idea to show it to the doc tomorrow

Dusty. :)

Could it be the Gutatte Psoriasis? It says that it can be found in the middle of the body/trunk (which includes your back) and is in a tear type shape which is circular kinda. Maybe that scab you pulled was scaly skin instead?

Could also be a boil/abscess as they can "weep" or bleed which could also cause the scab. They can be red or inflamed around the boil and are usually pea sized. The skin will be raised if its a boil. Is it raised or flush with the skin?

Google health says to call a doctor if you have any of these issues with a boil:
* Appear on the face or spine
* Continue to occur
* Do not heal with home treatment within 1 week
* Occur along with a fever, red streaks extending out from the sore, large fluid collections around the boil, or other symptoms

Let us hope its not a bed sore/pressure sore. Don't google those images...

Hopefully it isn't this:
Enterocutaneous: This type of fistula is from the intestine to the skin. An enterocutaneous fistula may be a complication of surgery. It can be described as a passageway that progresses from the intestine to the surgery site and then to the skin.
Symptoms of fistulas can include pain, fever, tenderness, itching, and generally feeling poorly. The fistula may also drain pus or a foul-smelling discharge. These symptoms vary based on the severity and location of the fistula.

You might want to check out the side effects of Remicade again as I found this:
unusual lumps; unusual skin growths or other skin changes...
http://www.drugs.com/sfx/remicade-side-effects.html

And many other sites spoke of skin abscesses etc. when talking about Remicade.

So definitely show it to your doc tomorrow for sure. I don't think you need to go to the ER unless you're experiencing some of the symptoms listed above having to do with an infection.

Edit: I'm not meaning to scare you, I only looked up the possibilities but yes an ingrown hair is possible or any other thousands of minor skin problems that are out there. :D

Thanks for the info - going to take a look at the link....

At first I thought it was a GP spot - I have them ALL OVER...trunk, legs, arms etc.....this spot I thought was just one of those....but would weep more than others.....it is right at the top and to the side....I have sensitive skin around there anyway from past fissures....oh- and I did have fistulas with the crohns' - which is why I am on the remicade....

I will bring it up with the GI tomorrow - I did clean it up again with hydrogen peroxide - I ~think~ there may have been a little pus with it....

The skin didn't seem raised around it - but is def. red...no real 'head' I could feel.....going to clean it up one more time before bed. If my camera wasn't in the car, I'd take a picture!

Look up Hidradenitis Suppurativa its linked to CD. I've had both for 33 years. I get mine in the pubic area mostly now. The another one is Pyodermatitis for CD.
No one could tell me what mine was and I hunted and hunted the internet and found using images after matching symptoms very helpful. I have since had one boil biopsied and they don't know but the pathology suggested them both. Pyodermatitis you get anywhere on the body. HS you get in hair regions. Pubics under arms between legs or under breasts. Some people have them very bad and get them all over, I suppose because we all have Bum Fluff. LOL
