I have been quite sick for a little over a month. I have gone from 123 pounds for 113. I have had terrible cramping and d. I have been battling c. diff for over a year and we think it may finally be gone, but the d has gotten worse. Mornings and evenings are especially bad. After a flex. sig. (which showed a very nasty colon) my dr. is still hesitant to call it crohn's and says there may be a chance it is some form of c. diff in remission. He is talking about putting me on Remicade or possibly removing my colon. (A colonoscopy from a year ago showed only mild inflammation.) I had never been given any other treatments other than those for c. diff.
I was put on 40mg of prednisone which had very little effect.
After getting a second opition I am now on Asacol. I take 1600 mg 3 times a day and am starting to taper off the prednisone. I have been on this treatment for 5 days and have seen little effect. My question is, how long should it take to kick in and, what does imporvement look like? I feel like I am expecting a miracle!
