Both my blood work and fecal calprotectin came back normal but sometimes I feel like I can't empty myself. Earlier , I was feeling pain in my rectal area. Last Thursday, I saw some blood in my stool. Over a week ago. I had some drainage and incontinence. What could be going on?

Could be an internal hemorrhoid. I've had them recurrently lately, they bleed and sometimes hurt a lot, and they make me feel like I'm not empty - like there's still "stuff" in my rectum that I can't get out, but it's just the hemmie. Depending on where they're located, they could probably cause drainage or incontinence too although I haven't experienced those symptoms myself. For what it's worth, I also seem to be in remission and my fecal cal is also in the normal range.

It is something you should get checked out to be sure, though. If it's a hemorrhoid, your primary care doctor or GI should be able to find it either with a finger up the backside or an anuscopy - neither option is particularly pleasant, but it would be good for you to know for sure what's going on. I treat my internal hemmies with steroid suppositories and that's been working pretty well for me. So call your doctor and get it checked out.

Last week, I was told to increase the amount of colestid from three to four tablets. I wonder if cutting back to three would decrease me feeling like I can't empty myself.
