Please can someone help me as I'm going outta my mind. Been on aza 2 weeks titrated from 25mg to 50mg last tues and I feel like death. D&v and abdo pain but different from a flair. Went hospital yesterday as sat and my nurse isn't around til Monday gave me anti sickness drugs but not working. How do I get through tonight? And should I take my aza tonight or not? I'm at the end of my tether, even my last flair didn't make me feel this bad!!!

I have heard some people really have a hard time with nausea and vomiting when starting the aza. i'm on it now and have experienced no symptoms like that. This may be a silly question, but are you taking your aza with a meal? Sometimes that can make a world of difference. Though I know some people immediately stopped taking the aza because they couldn't take the nausea and vomiting and couldn't wait to hear back form their docs. Hopefully someone with actual experience can give you some better advice than me! Hang in there!

I had some nausea and vomiting when I first started as well and then again when I upped my dosage. Before stopping, I would call your doctor and see what he says. He may want to do some blood work just to make sure there isn't more going on. I ended up sticking with it and now I have no side effects at all. As Marisa said, taking it with food helps. I always take mine with my supper.

I don't know if this helps, Meg has 75mg daily, taken once a day and takes them in the evening, she doesn't have any nausea etc. xx

She also takes them after her final milkshake Ensure Plus (she's on a liquid diet)

Bless u try taking it in two doses instead of one and eat with it. hope it helps x

azathioprine was hell on me, had the gut pains the hot and colds and running to the toilet, ended up passing purple blood at the a&e when i couldnt stand the pains anymore, was attacking my pancreas i found out later, if its getting bad get to the a& e at least they should do a blood test to see whats going on

Thanks everyone, spoke to Crohns nurse this am and she says stop it until we meet again week on tues... Thanks for all your support!!! Looking forward now!!! Xxx

I felt horrendous for a few weeks after starting aza but it eased with time. Take your tablet with food. Good luck.
