Hi there
I have been experiencing intermittent hot/cold sweats, more fatigued, body aches in my lower back and neck, and loss of appetite and again nauseated in the mornings. I thought it may have been a flu starting but it seems to come right after midday. I haven't taken my azathioprine today as I'm wandering if it is a side effect of the medication. I feel so much better for not taking it! I'm usually on 100mg everyday. Contacted my specialist nurse as my GI is away and she seems to think it may be that my body was fighting off a virus and recommended that I continue to take the Azathioprine..... My blood tests were fine. I'm blaming it on the pill. Any thoughts or advice? Has anyone ever had these side effects?

How long have you been taking the azathioprine for? I also feel fatigued and nauseated from 100mg doses, though the feeling of nausea has been getting better, I think itl settle as our bodies get used to it

I have restarted aza after some time - I feel fatigued, I have a headache, and I have severe itching, when I googled, I found that nausea, fatigue and itching are the three most common side effects of aza.

hey daisy98!

I have been on aza for 5 months now and im luckily for me, the only side effect i get is fatigue.. well, i say lucky, its not so good when im falling asleep at work! haha

I do find though, it comes and it goes, if I exercise in the day and have a good solid 8/9 hours sleep a night I feel better, still a bit tired through the day, but better..

thanks everyone for your comments. I have been on 100mg since beginning of January 2013. Nausea at first was quite bad so my GI reduced it to 75mg and then again increased it to 100mg. I take 50mg in the morning and 50mg at night to help me tolerate it a bit better. I will give it one last go, Hopefully it might get better :) member BLUE- you have had your side effects for 6months, how do you manage it? :)

I was taking it and 100mg dose I was fine at 1st but then I started feeling dizzy and sick light headed but carried on 5 days later I couldn't get out of bed constant sickness turned out I was having an allergic reaction now I just control it with diet x
