Azathioprine pain?

My doctor prescribed me with Azathioprine for Crohn's. He told me that there were no side effects, but I've been taking it for a few days now and it kills my stomach. I take one at breakfast and two at dinner. Last night, I took my two at dinner and a little while afterwards, my stomach hurt so bad that it doubled me over.

I ate breakfast and took my pill and it wasn't as severe as last night, but it still hurt a lot. Has anyone else taken this pill and noticed stomach pain?

different people react to different meds in different ways. I take azo w/ no side affects at all. But I cant take Amitriptyline or Gabapentin. Both of those meds make me very sick. Tell the the doc about this side effect.

So I Took it for a couple days, split up the pills and drank an 8 oz. bottle of water with each dose. Still kept getting really sick. Finally, got a call from my doctor and he's switched me to 6MP, which seems to already be doing better than Azathioprine, but I've only had one dose. We'll see how well this works for me.
