Well, I woke up early so that I could give myself time to use the bathroom as much as possible before going to the doctor. Used it about three times maybe four. Thankfully I did because i would have been in trouble if I didn't plan ahead. Everybody knows:)

So I got there and had to register my doctor's visit today. Weird because i never had to before. So I seen the doctor about two hours after arriving there. This sucks when you're in a flair!

I talked about my flair up and what I was taking. He sounded like a really good GI doctor. I'm happy with him. But they rotate doctors every time which sucks.
He doesn't want me on probiotics or these new cool apple cider vinegar pills from GNC. Apple Cider Vinegar is to help with bleeding. Hard to find the drinks here so I got the pills. He said no, don't take any over the counter stuff. WHAT?!!!!! I see it says on products to ask your doctor. He said because my system is very sensitive to what I put into it.

Now, if you do the research you will see that there's no drug out there that stops hemorrhage 100% so I'm looking into diet which may help stop it.
I don't have hemorrhoids.

I on the other hand. Will take my apple cider vinegar pills. I got yestarday. Why? because......All these doctors want you to do is take 'their' drugs which have side effects. ALL!!!!
He says it contains a lot of chemicals to make and it hasn't been tested. I guess he meant tested for ppl with IBD.

I'm a little piss about this. And He seems to not have liked the fact I did my research on everything I could have thought in dealing with IBD so far. From stuff I can buy to what not to take like Prednisone. I told him about the side effects of had on that and a steroid enema drug.

I put my ass into remission 3 times. :)

I wont ever be taking steroids again through. That's not a option for me especially know what they can do to your body........... And knowing once i come off it, it will start flaring up once again.
If I didn't have those effects then I would take them.

I'm no Guinea Pig I'm thinking now. lol

And the thing is everybody experience this different like the common cold.

he doesn't want me to get a jpouch now because i'm too young and still new to it all. and we got to try out the other drugs.

I'm so piss because like some of your know, I lost my job to this crap last year and I want to OH SO BADLY relocation to Florida or California and live on my own already.

So......

I have mesalamine Rectal Suspension enema thing someone on here refer to me to get it because it worked for him/her. I forget who so I told my doc about it he said ok. he was thinking of prednisone or a enema one like the one i took i said no lol.

I also have Asacol ec 400MG. I thought it was the HD one but its the normal one. Its a mesalamine.
Folic Acid and Ferrous iron pills. I asked the doctor is this any good even through I'm losing blood a lot, he said yes. He said take as many as you want..... WTF? I'm like what? in my mind. But he really said it doesn't matter how much i take. I'm only taking 3 like the bottle said.! It is hard on your stomach. the Iron through the IV i never took, i said because of the side effects that i may get and it was too cold for me to go out last winter to get it.

The nurse who was taking my blood ask how i was and i told her about my stomach issue and she has the same thing. Colitis or Crohns and she eats healthy. no junk food or anything. last night she was in a lot of pain. i had a few cramps today on the bus and hospital. I was like oh no i don't want to go now. Playing music on my mp3 player seem to have calm that urge down. i don't know but it helps so much to stay calm.

Anyway. I feel happy.

Swirl......

Hey Swirl - Thanks for the update, and especially to read that you feel happy.

Good luck with the mesalamine enemas and Asocol. That was pretty much my routine when I had UC - Asocol for maintenance and mesalamine enemas for flare ups, steroid enemas if the flare was really bad. They always worked for me, until my last really bad flare, but that was my fault I let it go too long.

Apple Cider Vinegar has a lot of healing properties! You are smart to discuss with your doctor all that you are taking, but only you can judge what is best. If they help you feel better, then go for it. I honestly don't think it can hurt - in my opinion. I used to drink ACV in tea when I had bad heartburn from prednisone. It helps!

Anyway, keep us posted. Hope you start to feel better real soon!

Ok good so both these mesalamines are ok to take. I didn't know if taking two was good and if he just put me on them just to make me happy.

I don't think apple cider vinegar pills are bad if i had the drink it would be the same. I'm taking them. I just dont know when to take the Asacol. It just says to take 3 of them 3 times a day but is it every 3 hours. Pentasa was every 4 hours.
The Iron thing I have to figure it out but have it all come from diet.

I'm eating soup and salt crackers and lots of water. i feel sick.

I go back to GI July 6th. I will post again if the bleeding stops. If it stops, I don't know if its because of the enema or the Asacol... But I guess the enema is temporary.

Swirl - Regarding the iron, there are many sources of iron, both animal and non-animal. Some of the non-animal sources are HIGHER in iron, but they are better absorbed when combined with animal sources.

Two good sources are black strap molasses (I don't like it much, but you can put it in fruit smoothies and it is tolerable) and spirulina. The latter is an algae-type stuff and it's one of the highest sources of iron. It comes in both capsule and powder form.

Good luck! - Amy
