Back on Medication/Toilet Card

So I gave the Elemental Diet a go.
It didn't go well if any of you have been following my blog. I stopped writing in it, as I thought that'd be the end of anything I'd have to write about Crohn's, but it turns out I have a lot more to say :L
Back on Humira now. In the midst of a really bad flare, and cabin fever of sitting in my house is growing!
How do you keep yourselves busy during a flare?
Also, I was wondering does anyone have that IBD toilet card? Any feedback on that would be appreciated. As far as I'm aware, it isn't law that the owners of a place have to let you use their facilities?

Sorry you are going through a tough time. I managed to get hold of a toilet card and like you live in Ireland. I got it by emailing the Irish Society for Colitis and Crohns Disease; [email protected] also check www.iscc.ie and they're number is 01 873 5737

They are simple cards but useful and I always carry mine with me in my wallet. I actually had it laminated as they are only made of card and lets face it we need them to last.

What sort of "in house" interests do you have? I love knitting and crochet which keep me busy if I cant get out- although you have to get out initially if you want needles and wool !! House work is no fun so rule that one out. Do you have a garden or somewhere to grow something in pots on a balcony etc. I've really gone into veg gardening this year. If you are interested in trying something like that ask someone to pick up a copy of the English magazine "Grow it" as although it is nearly €6 you get five packets of seeds with it. Bit of a laugh and something to keep you occupied. At least you get sort of get out (i.e. outside the door) and still be near the loo. You can check out the mag on line too if you just google Grow it.

Oh by the way no, people dont have to let you lose their loos but at the same time if you politely tell them that if they cant let you use their loo or help you to the nearest ASAP then it is highly likely that you will "go" where you stand (i.e. probably on their nice floor in front of customers, where they will ultimately have to clean up anyway with a large peg on their nose) plus you have produced your new card, it is likely that they will let you use them. No promises but hey

Hi Sarah, sorry to hear that the diet didn't go to well and you are back on the meds. I am a big supporter of trying food diary's/different diets to try and get to a good place and it does work for quite a few people which is great, like you though even when only on the shakes and not eating anything my crohns flares up

For stuff to do at home I like to read or plays games on the my ipad. Otherwise I watch TV or a film.

I hope you can be feeling better soon hun.

Hey, sorry to hear you're having a bad flare. I'm a PC gamer so usually I'm not short of stuff to keep myself entertained at home but if gaming isn't your thing then maybe consider a love film subscription for unlimited dvds or something like that?

Angry bird, i hope your crohn's is settled now, the elemental diet sucks!
I was hospitalized for ten days just recently :/ Ajs, you would have been proud of me, cleared several mario levels.
Also rewatched the old series of Grey's Anatomy. Can't get enough of hospitals! :L

Hiya, if you don't mind me asking what were you in hospital for? Does this mean they will be changing from the Humira or adding another med to it to try and get things settled? How are you doing now?

My tum is settled (ish) and due to some side effects I am changing from Aza to 6mp, have just finished watching Bones season 1 t 6 on boxset- will have to wait till October for season 7 and about to start House season 1 (have never watched this but willing to give it a go).
