Hello,

I started taking 5mg of low-dose naltrexone on Christmas day and for the first 30 days, I could tell that I was beginning to feel better - less cramping and my erythema nodosas on my left leg cleared up. Now, into my sixth week, I am noticing that my stomach pains are returning and I have a pretty hefty swelling in my right ankle. Has anyone else had this type of experience? I have asked my dr. to drop the dose to 4.5 mg, as that's the recommended dose and I'm not a large person.

Here's to good health!

4.5 mg is the normal maximum dose, so I am not sure why you are on 5.0 mg.

One thing that has been brought up recently is that it may be possible that LDN taken everyday eventually will store in the Liver and after a while the effect is altered by the slow constant release from the Liver.

I started taking my LDN for six days and then I take two days off. No particular magic to that pattern, except that I work two midnight shifts in a eight day cycle. I do not take it when I work all night. The two days off allows my Liver to get rid of any excess LDN I may have.

I am not sure if the theory has been properly evaluated, but it makes sense to me, and I can certainly get away with two days off anyway. Everyone has a different metabolic rate, so it may not be the same for different people.
