So today after waiting forever (I was discharged from hospital in March) I had an appt with my gi. Only to be told he dosn't think I have crohns!!!!

Whilst in hospital in March (was there for 12 days) I had a laparoscopy which I was told showed thickening of bowel wall, inflammation and inflamed lymph nodes. I then had a ct scan which they said didn't show them anything they didn't already know. My crp was 139 and they took stool samples. I was discharged from hospital with a diagnosis of probable crohns disease and given a 5 week course of steroids. I was told they couldn't give me the confirmed diagnosis of crohns until I had biopsies taken.

About 5 weeks ago I had a colonoscopy but the doctor couldn't get in to the ti. to take biopsies or pics.

Today my gi told me that my stool sample showed inflammation.
He also went on to say that the laparoscopy I had done in hospital just showed reddening , and as the colonoscopy didn't show any signs of crohns he thinks I just had an infection.
(I was also admitted in to hospital last year with same symptoms (crp 257) but didn't have all the tests done)

He said he was referring me back to my GP, and if I had another nasty bout of symptoms just go and see GP.

I feel so frustrated and quite upset actually! Am back to square one again I feel like I have to get to the stage of being in absolute agony not being able to walk again for anything further to be done.

I feel like because I don't have the most common symptoms of diarrhoea and weight loss my GI is not investigating properly.

Any thoughts or advice would be most appreciated. Thanks

As it's through the NHS I'm not sure if I can just ask for a second opinion???
When the GI said today if it happens to me again to go to the GP he also actually said and be referred to a more local GI!! Obviously he dosn't want to deal with me again!!
I feel like my symptoms are starting up again (and I did tell him this) so hopefully my GP will refer me somewhere else.

You can ask to see a different dr with the nhs it shouldn't be a problem if to mention it to your GP.
So you had been taking steroids when the colonoscopy was done? Maybe this could have masked the inflammation and they weren't able to tell because of it. Are you still on steroids now?

Thanks for reply.
I'll go and talk to my GP about seeing a diff GI then. Thanks!
No i'm not on any steroids now, but like you said I had already been on steroids before the scope so the inflammation could have gone. As the doc could only get glimpses inside my TI, I don't see how they can be certain that there was no signs of crohn's either!
Just feeling completely let down at the moment!!
