Hi guys,

As time has gone on since end January have had the usual pains in my tum on and off, while taking my asacol as well. Yesterday I just couldnt go into work I had a job to get out of bed it was as though I'd been kicked in the stomach by something heavy. I have no diaorreah (which is unusual for me) but notice my stools seem a bit red. I have been in remission for the past 6 months, and was doing so well. Have had a hemicolectomy 3 yrs ago.

I saw my doctor this morning (which I hate) all he says is "What are we going to do with you and your stomach", I said I dont care to be honest I'm so sore, with that he huffed and puffed and told me to get on the coach so he can feel my tummy, I nearly jumped off the bed when he felt it, from my right side, and across to my left was so sore. He realised then I wasnt making it up, he prescribed me 10 day course of antibiotics. I made an appointment a few weeks ago to see my lady doc next weds and have kept it just in case.

Why; if anyone can tell me, what is wrong with my doctor, it puts me off seeing him, but its either that or go straight to hosp, which I dont really want. Also after
having hemi-colectomy why would I be so sore on the right side again, I'm a bit worried.:depressed:

Well Karisue - our disease is chronic unfortunately - and prone to recurrence. When I flare - it is always at my resection site from my surgery. I am surprised he didn't go ahead and put you on a course of steroids with that high of pain from palpating your stomach. Certainly sounds like a flare to me. I would really pay attention to if you are having any improvement over the next 3 to 5 days - and if not - I'd get right in to see your other doc and see what they can do. I'm sorry you are having a rough time again!! Keep us posted ok?

stomach pain is what put me in the hospital. thats how i found out i had crohns. if your in that much pain and your dr cant make it stop, go to the hosiptal. no one should have to go thru that. i would also look into another dr asap. hope you feel better soon. that pain is unreal.

Hi Karisue...Was this your GI or general practitioner?......I think you may need to go back again. I hope you feel better.
