Hi
Yesterday i had a colonoscopy done, i have had crohns for appr 15yrs. when first diagnosed had major surgery and resection done. since then i have only had a few flare ups.. when i had the colonoscopy yest , my specialist had to do a balloon dilation and open up the bowel to 16mm/ also mild crohns was found in this spot. The report is Anastomotic Crohns disease with stricturing. i have been put on 25g of predisilone which i have had once before. and i have to see him again in 6weeks. he said that i may have to go on meds full time , but will discuss this with me. not sure what way to go, as i dont really get sick.. he said that if he didnt do the dilation my bowel could have blocked because of the crohns.. anyone had a dilation and does if so is it possible that it would stay at 16mm or does it go back to being narrow.. he does not want me to have to go thru surgery again (HMM And neither do i )

Hi seb the stricture will not go narrow again unless you get inflamation in it..this is why he wants you to take meds... ask him about going on a liquid diet for six weeks then using this suplement to keep you in remission..this way your not taking drugs and there is no side effects,, some people have gone 9 months after dilation some people have gone years and years. i had a dilation in my colon four years ago its fine still and one in my dudoneum this lasted two years before re-dilation..and your right surgery is best to avoid if possible.....if you would like to no more please feel free to ask

thanks dan, wow 6weeks liquid diet, i think that would kill me:lol::lol: but i will defi mention it to him./ i worry about being on drugs full time due to side effects etc.. ta again

haha six weeks is no time... especially as the type of remission you get from it is one of a kind.. plus your full digestive system really gets a rest and repairs itself...

the drugs ware of anyway then you have to swap and change... there still worth taking over surgery in my opinion though
