Hi, im 16 years old and for as long as i can remember its been painful for me to go to the toilet. Firstly it was a fisher, which was a tear in the back passage. After alot of discomfort i went into hospitol a couple of weeks back and told it was either chohns or celiak disease. Today, ive had to have a general anesthetic and had a camera up my back passage and down my throat. It was all rather discomforting.

So it looks like now im going to be on medication for at least 3 years, and thats if it goes away.

My symptoms are very discomforting though. Firsty i thought it was piles because at the end of my poo i felt my bowls still had more to come. This is a main symtom of piles but i dont have piles..

Another symptom i have, when i go to the toilet after being i used to get a very itchy bum, which has now developed into pain. Anybody else suffer from this? I feel so in the dark at the moment, i just hope the medication will make it not so painful for me to go to the toilet and the feeling after it. It gets to the point where i dont want to go to the toilet as if i go in the day it hurts all day, but if i go at night im up all night with it. Ive once gone without the toilet for 1week+.

So yeah, thats pretty much it. Hopfully being a member of this forum i will be able to talk to some of you and relate my symptoms with you..

Ive also been told i have a low iron level making me anemic. I am 6.5 stone, underweight.. :(

Thanks, Ben.

Hi Ben,

Am very glad you felt you could post and talk to us! You have taken a brave step for a young man dealing with alot on his plate right now.

The men on here will be great support to you as well as us girls! You will also meet a few around your own age.

I went through the "is it coeliac or crohn's or irritable bowel syndrome" fun so understand why you are in a quandry.

Hang in there! It sounds like they are sorting you out. Keep talking to us whether its a good or bad day ok?

Thinking of you.

Hi Ben, welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear of your troubles. Its usually a long and trying experience to get diagnosed. Just consider yourself fortunate that you've got past that hurdle. As a member of this forum, you are entitled to talk and relate your symptoms as much as you want. And there's a game room and chat centre here too.
I'm sure you will get to meet a lot of folks here who are in a very similar situation, OK

hi ben.

just wanted to say a warm welcome, from another newbie on the forum. unfortunately not a newbie to crohns, mine also kicked in during my teens years back.. but i have to say, i have learnt so much just from reading in here. and the members seem so caring and knowledgeable, i'm sure you'll get a lot of support and comfort from joining here.

now that you know what you have, you're a stage further to getting your body sorted with help from your physicians. hopefully your iron level and weight will improve too. my own diagnosis came after years of being told i had an active imagination and nothing more... so i was kinda relieved when 'it' was given a name (at last, someone believed me).

i really hope your quality of life improves very quickly for you.

wishing you all the very best.

dingbat.

Welcome, I'm pretty new here myself as well. I used to get some itchyness as well but mine didnt last too long normally. The good news is that now you're diagnosed your doctors can work out what medicine you need and hopefully help you with your symptoms as soon as possible.

Just to bump this up:

Im now on 1 steriod, 4 azothiropen (cant spell it)

Generally feeling alot better, going to toilet is alot easier but still feeling as if i cant completely empty my bowls.

Hi Ben - I am new to this forum and it is a great place - loads of support and advice.

I get the feeling that my bowels are not empty - it's very annoying but you sort of get used to it.

Hi

Hi Ben

I'm a new member here but a Crohn's sufferer for 8 years now. Your first post could have been written by me in 1999, so similar are the issues you are having. It's early days for you and I sincerely hope you can get on top of this disease quickly. This forum seems to be a gold mine of infomation and help and I'm sure it will help in some way.

Thanks
Ben
