Hi, everyone,

I've been trying to post with questions since I joined over the weekend, and my posts aren't going up. I'm wondering if I'm still waiting to be approved, yet my introduction went through.

I had asked about symptoms relating to Crohn's. I have an entire list of them. I wondered about eye problems (dry, floaters), and I wondered if anyone had dry, sore, burning mouth with flares instead of ulcers. I have the former.

Also, I don't have ulcers in my colon, but I do my stomach. Can this be related to Crohn's, as well?

I have so many questions. Can one take prednisone for Crohn's at the same time one takes hydrocortisone for Addison's?

Thanks, everyone. Hopefully this will post.

welcome aboard lindajoy.
have you contacted via personal meesage, either dingbat or mikeyarmo about your posting problem? they are the computer whizzkids around here and can sort anything out.
someone mention dry eyes and crohns, but i cant find the thread about it now.
hydrcortisone contains a mild steroid, so maybe that should be takem imto account when prescribing pred.
any questions you have then fire away, someone will have the answer.

Thank you, Merrywidow, for the welcome. I'd like to list my symptoms, if I may, and see if they are what you all experience. This will help me sort things out, I think. I hope so, at least! :confused2:

My symptoms when I'm feeling poorly with this:

--PAIN! Abdominal that sometimes is achy, sometimes stabbing, most times burning, goes into my upper right quadrant and around to my lower back. My stomach will hurt, too, and get sore to the touch.

--abdominal bloating (even though I'm pooping), with lots of gas and loud noises

--Constipation, but sometimes episodes of diarrhea that leave me feeling shaky, weak, light-headed, sweaty, with abdominal and back pain.

--muscle, joint pain

--dry, painful eyes that act funny in sunlight (get spots that are hard to get rid of)

--acid reflux

--mouth burning, sore tongue

--I've been diagnosed with eosinophilic esophagitis with this.

--joint pain

--thyroid numbers all over the place!

--headaches

--neck pain

--stomach ulcers (but no ulcers in my colon)

--sugars going low, having to eat every two hours

--some fatigue but really not too bad

--more PVC's than usual

--liver enzymes (just ALT) up, averaging around 140's.

--sphincter of oddi like pain (I've had 2 ERCP's)

--dry eyes, with more blood vessels showing in them

--overall fluish feeling, like I just don't feel well

I guess that's about it. I know I'll think of more questions later. I'm so sorry to bug you all with this. I can read all the basics of this disease, but the specifics I need from all of you who live it. I'm so glad to have found you.

hi Lindajoy... i am not sure why you were having difficulties posting, as members awaiting moderation should still be able to post... anyway, you're fully registered now :)

heck, that's quite a list there, aw i am sorry you're suffering so much! i think most of those issues could be effects of Crohn's, yes, but you do need a definite diagnosis from a GI. we're not doctors, and although something may sound like Crohn's, it could also be a number of things... so i'd advise you to see a GI and ask for whatever tests it takes to get a diagnosis.

on the pred question, i think i'd be right in saying that you should only be taking one course of steroids at a time - again, talk to a doctor, i'm sure your gp could answer that one for you.

let us know how things go, and welcome to the forum :)

Hi Lindajoy,
Welcome to the forum. I hope you are feeling better soon.

I have never had dry, burning mouth myself, but I have had plenty of canker sores (could be mouth ulcers, I don't know). Possibly someone else here has though.

I would check with your doc about taking prednisone and hydrocortisone at the same time - they always take me off the one before putting me on the other.

As for your eye problems, you might want to get them checked for iritis. My wife gets iritis really bad, and it can lead to blindness if left untreated. She has been on eye drops (prednisolone) for a few months straight now - every time they try to wean her off, her iritis flairs up again.

Good health and best of luck.
