Hey guys,

It's been a while since I've posted and I'm happy to say that I am doing well, well enough to travel.
Has anyone travelled with Crohn's on here? I'm having trouble finding travel insurance that isn't so expensive once you declare that you have Crohn's. Does anybody have advice about travelling with Crohn's?

I'm from Australia and travelling to USA and Mexico.

Thank you all.

Hi Smoothie

My daughter is currently in the UK and she has travel insurance which covers Crohn's Disease.

General Advice Warning

This information may be regarded as general advice. That is, your personal objectives, needs or financial situations were not taken into account when preparing this information.

There are currently two companies that I know of that will provide cover for Crohn's Disease, they are Covermore and Suresave.

You may need the assistance of an insurance broker. Suresave have just move to a new system.

Feel free to PM me.

Some credit cards will cover medical issues, you can call and ask your credit card company if they will reimburse travel costs if you can't go for some reason (I usually make it vague since I am paranoid re: being recorded).

This will not cover medical expenses while away, but if you have to cancel at the last minute (before traveling), it may be enough. My CC card company has a dollar amount that they will be liable for and also will not cover you if you are going to be away for more than 60 days.

If you are going to be away for an extended period of time or if you are worried that you may have to be hospitalized while away, then you will probably want something more.

Previous existing conditions are subject to exclusion on all travel insurances except corporate travel policies.
