Hi, I'm new here, I've been looking for some advice on Crohn's related subjects, and I ended up finding this site, which looks like it might be helpful.

I was diagnosed with Crohn's over 6 years ago, and although I've had problems on and off with it, largely I have been in fairly good health. Over the past week I've been experiencing more stomach pain, which isn't out of the ordinary, but lately I've found that there's quite a lot of blood in my stool. The thing is, I've not been feeling particularly unwell, but just the fact that there's blood in my stool is getting me a little anxious.

I've been taking the Asacol foam enemas which I was prescribed to use in cases like this, but I'm just wondering if anyone can give me any further advice on what I should do.

Welcome Contepomi,
I have't had this issue so can't help you there, but there will be others who can.
I hope you find this place helpful for you :)

Hi Contepomi,
Are you taking anything else that treats you higher up? The enemas don't go too high, and wouldn't help your stomach pain. I'm wondering if you need asacol orally maybe, and maybe a steroid foam enema such as cortifoam or colifoam instead?
A lot of us have blood in our stool, and it's usually not anything to worry about, especially if it's bright red, but talk to your doc if it eases your mind.
Good luck, and welcome to the forum.

Yeah sorry I forgot to mention my other medication, as it's become such a habit it doesn't even cross my mind now. I'm taking Asacol and Azathioprine tablets.

Welcome contepomi...If you're concerned, it's probably best to see your doctor. You might need to have your blood count checked just in case. Good luck.

I always have blood. A lot of blood. It is normal for me. How weird is it to have a disease where when your Dr asks you if you have been having any problems lately and you say, "a lot of blood in my stool," they say, "yeah, but I mean anything out of the ordinary."

If any of my friends had as much blood in their stool as I do (or any really) they would think that they were dying! LOL. Ask your Dr just in case, but it is probably not too big a deal for a Crohnie.

Well, I've never had any bleeding at all, really, but I think it's probably best to get it checked out, just to be safe. Especially to keep your blood count from dropping too low. Good luck! I hope it's not serious.
