i am currently in a flare and was in the hospital for 5 days and now i am on a bland diet.
i was wondering how long am i going to be on a bland diet because i really hate the foods on the diet and i want to eat more flavor foods.
my doctor is being hard to get a hold of
like when will i know when can i eat good food.

Hey sorry your going through this :( the bland food sucks!!!!!...The advice i was given and i know a lot of others were to is when you feel you can eat normal food wait another day. Basically your stmptoms need to of improved before you allow other foods into your body. But if you feel your up to it now, wait another day then just nibble on things you feel like dont eat a whole meal because it could make you sicker. There is no right or wrong time to start eating again its when you feel ready.
Best of luck!

It depends on your condition and doctor. I'd day usually it's no food or liquid 24-48 hrs, liquid diet 24 hours followed by low fiber for 5 days to 2 weeks.

What kind of food are you missing? Maybe there are some tricks to incorporate them in a safe way ie: you love tomatoes so you get puréed and strained tomato sauce.

If your body can actually tolerate spicy foods with an IBD then I am extremely envious of you! I know mine cannot and it is by far what I miss the most. But if you can, that is amazing. As far as pizza goes, you just have to limit your toppings to what you know your body can handle and you should be fine. And as nogutsnoglory said, there are alternatives to certain foods. For me, I cannot have nuts but I can have peanut butter. It's unfortunate but it could always be worse!

Best of luck!

Juicing might be an option to have some other flavors. Some people with Crohn's seem to enjoy juicing and tolerate it well.

My son really likes spicy food too and he was very bummed to be told to avoid spicy foods. He misses it too!
