I woke up this morning and went into the bathroom on my routine morning bowel movement and noticed when I got up that the whole toilet was RED!! this is the second time I had bleeding but not this bad. The next two times (which were like in same hour) I went I had the same thing so I went to bed and after a little while my stool was back to the color brown... wierd.

At like midnight I had a pretty solid stool and had some pain so I'm wondering if maybe I have a fissure and the midnight bowel movement made it start to bleed and then in the morning it was a result from that...

if it were me, and i had 4 episodes in succession of bleeding to the extent you describe, i would definitely contact my gp at the least. it's reassuring that the colour returned to normal eventually, but i would suggest that the cause of the bleeding needs to be determined.

i hope it was a one-off, and you're ok, but yup - i really wouldn't leave this.

You my friend have a hemroid. It's a blood vein that is swollen, irritated or your stools just scratched it on the way out. It's an oft-found friend of Crohn's and while of course you should worry, you shouldn't worry too much (don't let your brain fry about it or anything :p) The meds you take for anti-imflam will help with them or if they are painful or itchy get ye to the pharmacy and buy up some "Tucks" pads or something like that for 'roids.

Soft toilet paper is always your friend :)

Edited to add: you can tell how far down in your colon that 'roid is by how fresh the blood is. If it's as bright red as you mentioned it's likely right at the end of the colon near the exit, which is why you saw it so well. Up further in the intestine and you see streaks of blood mixed with the stool.

Just looking for an update, did you call your doctor. I hope you didn't let it go. You should always call your doctor with active bleeding just to make sure it isn't anthing significant and they will probably want to do some labs to make sure that your blood count is okay.
