Does anyone know of any websites/recipes that involving blending? I'd like to try the blender diet, but don't know what kind of recipes are out there. I'd like something balanced but also high in protein. Oh, and the most important, tastes good. lol

Don't know of any websites, but one of my favourite meals is chicken soup made with leftover chicken, carrots, potatoes, tomato puree, swede, pasta, herbs, onion and peas if you can handle them, cook it all in chicken or veg stock for a couple of hours and blend. I used to put pulses in too, but can't handle those any more.

Sounds like a great investment !
But do they ship to the uk an what's the cost in pounds?
If not what's the equivalent uk version to buy?
Jen xx

Nope, still don't see why I should spend all that money on a blender when I've got a £10 one that does the job. Also Vitamix guy, let's hear your story or make some posts that aren't Vitamix based, because you sound like a salesperson or spammer.

While this does sound like a sales pitch. I've found people who buy a vitamix are really into it. It's like joining a cult or buying a mac.

People who own macs and iphones swear by them... even though they are cultish and got me to switch to iphones. Now I understand their rationality after I got my first iphone three years ago. So often in life we don't want to admit things that are painfully obvious or we don't want to spend money. I normally just ask myself, what's the worst that can happen. If there's a money back guarantee and people I know love it - I'm in. Once I started doing this, life got seemed to have gotten way better for me. Basically I stopped being as stubborn, ignorant, and way more open minded.

My good buddy has a vita mix and uses it 3 to 5 times a day and is the healthiest person I know. He works all day so this is just morning and evening use. I use it every time I'm over just about. Awesome machine and I am getting one as well this week. Those that haven't seen one are missing out. Ask around and check one out or go to Costco when they demo them. I don't know all the science behind whether it would be good to eat a lot more veggies and raw food, but something tells me, duh it would if I could.

FWIW:

As some of you would know Roo has short bowel syndrome and has had issues with losing too much weight. I thought..........hmmmmmm, maybe she would benefit if started to blend food. Turns out if she juices it causes her to use the toilet even more, goes through her like a dose of salts! So for some people blending just isn't going to work, no matter how good the blender is. ;)

Dusty. :)

OK then, seriously, tell me why I should spend my whole year's 'fun money' on a blender when I've got a £10 one that does the job. And yes, once I've paid all the bills etc I only have about £30 a month left to spend, so forgive me if I'm a bit skeptical about a life-changing blender!

I blend a lot of my foods for eating because it's the one way to get vegetables in my body without feeling a lot of pain and having d. I use the blender mostly to make smoothies and soups.

However, I HATE to clean the blender, especially when I'm not feeling well. What has worked amazing for me is the hand-held immersion blender. The immersion blender does the job just as well as my 'regular' blender without taking up any counter space and with just minimal cleanup.

I think the immersion blender cost me $20 on sale and I use it at least three times a week and have done so for the past few years.

I agree with Glum Chump. Immersion blenders are awesome provided you don't try to blend ice, that is the only thing a regular blender has over one. A large portion of them also come with a little container and a blade so you can use it as a food processor.

Yes, I have one of each, I tend to use the immersion for blending soups and cooked food that is already in the pan, and the jug style blender for things like smoothies.

Vitamix is the simplest "blender" to clean

Just watch the video on cleaning the bloody thing on the website. It takes me about 10-15 seconds to rinse it under some running water and then I give it a quick 3 second blast with the on switch. If you compare to a normal blender which only has a really high speed or a juicer which is a nightmare to blend and cuts most nutrients out as the pulp is not used.

I always find that people who say they don't have "time" or "money" really meant to say they don't want to PRIORITZE their time or money for a certain need. In most cases, one will find those people spend income on cigs or coke and hookers when they could be buying blenders and cherry pies. :) j/k

I bought a Innocence Smoothie Recipe book which I find great, great recipes, they even say what home equipment they use (think their juicer cost approx £50)

Main thing I got from it was
Use a juicer for hard items (apples carrots etc)
Blender for soft items (strawberries, blackcurrents etc)
and sqeeze for Citrus fruits

This is one cult I really want to join.

I am not into computers, mobiles and things like that. But I do seriously desire a vitamix blender.

I have been asking Santa for a vitamix every year for 5 years now. But I don't think I have been nice enough because he keeps bringing me embroidered hankies instead.

The vitamix is the rolls royce of blenders, but sadly my current blender is more of a robin reliant style!

I have recently been researching blenders and juicers i really like what vitamix is offering i think?... Anyhow while digging around i found an online cookbook that appears to be free and printable i was at qvc.com and searched vitamix it allows you to browse through their cookbook even if you use their recipes in your own machine its worth a shot just for some ideas

good luck
