Hello,
I have a curious question. My doctor told me that if I am bloating, which I do very often, try to eliminate milk from my diet, maybe that is causing my puffing.
Do any of you experience problems with dairy?Or bloating caused by some sort of food?
Thank you, best of wishes!:)

I did used to think I had a problem with dairy. But then I eliminated it from my diet and found that it made absolutely no difference to my bloating.

I think a lactose intolerance can manifest itself as bloating, because when you lack the enzyme lactase, which digests the sugar lactose, what you experience is massive amounts if carbon dioxide building up in your system. It will cause a lot of bloating and farting.

Its worth eliminating it for a week to see if you do experience a change in symptoms. Good luck chick! Let me know how you get on :)

Thank you very much for the useful information, I will definitely try a week without it and let you know how it goes. I am just blown up like a balloon for days and don't know why. :/

I am the same! I just don't know what causing it! I am so skinny and my tummy looks huge in comparison the the rest if me. It is so uncomfortable, I feel for you chick and I really ope you get the results you want. Its a horrid feeling when you're so bloated ALL the time. xxx

I noticed milk was'nt doing me any good so I switched to lactose free and soya, i feel alittle better for changing.
There's no harm in trying to avoid or replace it right? good luck and I hope the bloating goes down

Dairy causes me bloating and gas. I've tried many alternatives to milk and my favorites are the sugar free soy milk by Silk and coconut milk. I don't typically drink or eat a lot of dairy products though so the transition wasn't to hard for me. Good luck to you, I hope you find relief and answers.

I agree with Dana, I have had Crohns over 20 years and it is always best to avoid dairy. I use Dream Rice milk, almost tastes like milk. Wheat and fiberous foods should be avoided as well. Mainly when you are in a flare.

When I was diagnosed with UC I was also diagnosed with lactose intolerance and told to stay away from anything dairy.

Had dairy a few times and the bloating, inflammation, pain and swelling has been hideous.

A large percentage of UC & C sufferers are sensitive to things like dairy, wheat and meat, as all hard to digest.

Chicken makes me fart painfully. I mean really really bad. Baked beans have got nothing on chicken! And the pain is out of this world.
Prior to UC I could eat dairy, wheat and meat with no problems or concerns.

A good milk alternative is homemade almond milk. Easy peasy. I don't like shop brought almond milk, as find it tastes chalky.

You could also try things like goats milk, sheeps milk, horse milk, hemp milk, other nut milks, rice milk, soy milk, oat milk, coconut milk. Or just give up everything all together. I rarely use milk alternatives.

I used to love making my own milks using my Vitamix. This is a bit of kitchen gear I would recommend EVERYONE invests in! They are simply fantastic!

You can make milks out of any of the grains, nuts, lentils, beans, seeds, vegetables, fruits etc... Anything! (you could probably even make chicken or beef milk if you fancied it! But I must confess, its not number 1 on my list of recipes to try).

Just boil the chosen ingredient in water until tender (but not over cooked so you lose the nutrients). The pour into the Vitamix (or any blender!) add a proportional amount of water (depending on the amount of the ingredient used and personal preference to milk thickness), add a vanilla pod or 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract, add 1-3 tablespoons of any sweetener (xylitol, honey, agave syrup, sugar, stevia etc...) and blend!!!

Hey presto, you have delicious creamy, vanillary milk! :)

Enjoy
