Will sit ups and stomach crunches help the bloating?

I went to physio for ages and I do my exercises and my stomach is still as bloated as ever. Mum keeps telling me to do sit ups and the bloating will go away. I've been doing sit ups and the bloating is still there. I don't understand how the sit ups and crunches will help either, because although it strengthens my stomach, it's not the muscles that are causing the bloating. Mum says that if I do sit ups and crunches, my muscles will tighten and hold it in. No idea what 'it' is. She hasn't explained that part.

I'm kind of confused. I'll still do the sit ups anyway, but I was just wondering if it'll even help the bloating eventually? And is there anything else I can do to help the bloating go down other than exercise? I've looked all over the internet, and there are the obvious suggestions ~ eat slowly, don't do this, don't do that and whatever. But they're more for people who eat something and bloat. I am just always bloated except when I wake up in the morning before breakfast.

Thanks!

There may actually be some possible complications from sit-ups - it could create additional pressure, and if your bowel is weakened, it could cause problems. Walking, cycling, skating are all supposed to help bowels move. In my experience though, bloating almost always has to resolve itself for the most part. The bloating (in my case) is gas trapped in the bowels by either stricture or "stuff". Watching your diet can cut down on some of the gas production, and probiotics may also help keep good bacteria in your bowels and lessen them.

The reaction she is suggesting is usually from excessive fat and it eventually tightens. However, you are dealing with bloating, which is different. The reason it is not bloated in the morning is because you have had a good 10-12 hours of no food and the stomach has processed much while you sleep. Something you are eating or drinking is causing the bloating. One easy elimination is sugar from your diet. That can help reduce inflammation and may be one of the causes. Dinky only water for one week straight and see if that helps. If so, you may be drinking a carbonated beverage that causes it or something you may be sensitive to.

An "exercise" to help reduce inflammation is Bikram "Wind Removing Pose" (google it) done daily. That will help remove air in the digestive tract. Seconly, sit on your knees, arms in front of you, then pretend you are blowing out candles, quickly. Do it about forty times. You are pulling in your belly at the same time, naturally. Again, it reduces air in the belly.

Your bloating is probably caused by something you are eating or drinking. I am going through an elimination on my foods/drink for this very reason right now. I have eliminated sugars, carbonation, gluten and feeling night and day difference. Perhaps this may help!
