For the past week or so I have been having bloating and a hard stomach throughout the day generally below the belly button and in the left and right quadrants. I am passing normal stools however, so I know nothing serious is going on (currently in remission with Crohn's in Ileum and beginning of colon). It is just very uncomfortable at times. I have tried GasX which does help a bit but does not get rid of it entirely. My Dr. said to cut out raw veggies and dairy to see if it goes away. Anyone else experience anything similar to this? Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Hey there :) I'm fairly new to this game, but I wouldn't rely on normal stools as an indicator of things being OK. My Crohns is currently very active and I don't have the big D. Better to be on the safe side I think and go to the doc. Hope it's not a flare.

The hard stomach is a red flag; I would want a CT scan, just in case. When I've had these symptoms it comes before a flare; the scan will show what's going on.

I agree with Grumble-just because the stools seem normal doesn't mean you're OK. It can't hurt to get it checked out.

I'd def. cut out at least the dairy. Most CD patients are lactose intolerant anyway, and some studies show that LI can lead to CD or be partially responsible. The veggies definitely can be hazardous, especially if they're not cooked till soft. (carrots are a big no no for me.)

I have the same problem. Mine, at least in my opinion, is attributed to constipation. It also occurs at the very beginning of a "flare". It is uncomfortable and makes me feel huge and disgusting. I tend to lean toward a liquid diet until it resolves itself. Best of luck.
