Bloating?

Hi, I'm new to this forum and I thought I'd ask a question that I have been trying to research. I have recently been very bloated, only in my lower quadrant of my abdomen. I am quite tiny normally (size 0), and have always been that way. I was diagnosed with Crohn's after an emergency surgery to resection my terminal ileum in July, 2013. Up until now I have not had any sorts of problems with bloating, pain or medication (on Salofalk, 2tablets 2x). I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue, and has any suggestions to relieve this issue or why this might be... Could it be because of the medication? Or could it just be yet another Crohn's symptoms.
Thanks :)

I get very bloated at times. It can get to the point that my pants are painfully tight. I do think it's from the Crohn's because it's worse when the other symptoms are bad.

Mine seems to be related to my diet. I'm still figuring out what all the foods are but some dairy does it to me. Are you logging your meals/symptoms? That may help.

It is definitely something you want to bring up to your gastroenterologist. I'd also take the time to read up on Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth as it is relatively common in people with Crohn's and is a common cause of bloating.

I haven't kept a log of foods that bother me but honestly I haven't had much trouble with any foods except really oily things, which I stay away from. Is the intestinal bacterial growth relatively easy to treat, should it be something I should go to the clinic for, because my next GI appointment isn't until the end of April.

Bloating can be a symptom of Crohn's. Like David said, bloating can also be caused by Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth, and if this is the case antibiotics are used to fix the bacterial overgrowth. If you think this may be the cause of your bloating, I think it would be wise to go to the clinic and ask about it; the test is easy and in most cases can be done at your local hospital/clinic.

Are you having abdominal pain/nausea/fevers? And how have your bowel movements been lately? Do you think that a stricture or partial obstruction may be the cause of your bloating?

Either way, if your symptoms are new or getting worse, it would be best to give the GI a heads-up. They may be able to fight you in sooner, or want to order some tests. Good luck and keep us posted, ok?
