I've been really miserable lately with bad bloating and gas. I think the culprit is------apples, this time anyway. I've been eating baked apples lately for dessert. Has anyone had success with the FODMAP diet? I'm considering trying it, even though it sounds quite restricted in the beginning. My bloating comes and goes, but it gets pretty uncomfortable, I feel 9 months pregnant.

I've not tried the FODMAP diet. I've more or less have followed a paleo diet off and on. There are many different versions of the paleo diet so saying that can be confusing somewhat.

For me I've found the food items most likely to cause bloating are dairy/milk products, wheat products, and beans.

Apple sauce hasn't been a bloating problem for me.

Not helpful I know but my bloating seems quite random. However, and strangely it seems to get really bad after a bowel movement. (I'm lucky and don't get diarrhoea, I am more on the constipated side). My stomach always hurts just after I have been and the bloating just happens at any time. Such a weird disease!

Crohn's is so frustrating, because they don't have any answers for us. It's trial and error, since the doctors don't even talk about diet. I'm going to try FODMAP, but not eating wheat is going to be a problem. I know wheat bloats me too, but it's one of my staples.

Last year I had a lot of cramping and bloating and blamed it on eating too many apples because they were a lot cheaper than other fruits. Part of the blame I believe was caused by the apples being on the firm side. I can tolerate an apple with moderation, and found that chewing them well (which is a lot of work being older with bad teeth) helped alleviate the symptoms. Hard bits of apple ( or any vegetable or fruits) are hard for my system to digest.
