The past few days my crohns has been very angry with me starting with an upset tummy which turned into bloody stools and now today has been pretty much all blood and no stool or all mucous and whatever stool I did pass was VERY bloody. Then I made the mistake of passing some gas...which wasn't just gas it was followed up with blood and very large very black blood clots which we're also verygooey. Before I jump off the deepens and freak out I wanted to get some advice/knowlage from all of you wonderful people. Thanks

Hi Melissa! I'm so sorry you're going through this. It's scary to look down at a toilet full of blood. With the amount of blood you're describing and the black clots, you need to go see your doctor. Hopefully it's just a fissure flaring up (I've filled up a few bloody toilets from those before!) but please play it safe and get it checked out. Let us know how you're doing.

Hi Melissa. Don't jump yet. When I'm flaring really badly, especially before I got diagnosed and medicated I would have similar stuff. It's the worst and very scary, but for me is just a sign that my lower colon & rectum are super inflamed. I've often described it as pooping blood and guts! And there would never be a feeling of full evacuation. It's really the worst. For me, even with a strong anti-tnf I would still need to use the rowasa enemas 2 times daily for a full week before it would get under control. Definitely see your doctor though and figure out exactly what's going on. Don't let the blood scare you though. Part of the lower colon can really bleed badly. Good luck!

Yeah my crohns is located mostly in my lower colon, although they took so long to diagnose me that it spread throughout my entire colon. y main concern is the "new" symptom of black blood clots. I got sort of used to the toliet full of blood since my GI thinks that is perfectly fine for that to happen. I'm thinking my GI juped to say I was in remission. I tend to have about 2 or 3 weeks of blood in the toliet and about a week of normalcy. I'm going to talk to y GI the next visit and tell him the crap hit the fan and it's not working...either that or I flare VERY often. I'd try to get in sooner but they insult me by insinuating that I don't take my medicine or I've been around soeone whos been sick...hopefully theyll listen :S

Get in sooner with a NEW GI.

There's a few high rated Ohio doctors in our doctor directory in case you're interested.

David is right. You shouldn't have to put up with insulting, ignorant doctors. There have to be some good ones in your area and a smart, compassionate physician can make a huge difference in your health and happiness. Hang in there and good luck!

Oh honey you need a new doctor! I am concerned with all the blood loss that you have that you really need to be in the hospital getting fluids and a few pints of blood. Is there any way you could get some help getting to a hospital? I don't think this can wait until your next gi appt. No you don't sound like you are in remission. Black blood clots indicate you have bleeding higher up in the GI system.
