Im a guy and this is scaring the crap out of me.

Early today I went to the bathroom and seen a small puddle of blood in my boxers that leaked thru my shorts. I took a shower, wore sweat pants. I just woke up and seen blood has gone thru my sweat pants. these pants are thick too!

wtf is this? did something pop or what?

I had to miss school and work and looks like I might have to miss school and work again tmrw.

this is so embarrassing. I cant leave my house in fear that ill leak thru my clothing again for the whole world to see.

Have you contacted your doctor about this? If you're passing that much blood, I would at least send a message to your doctor. I know that passing blood through the toilet is one thing, but if you're seeing it on your underwear, outerwear, etc I'd think that there could be something else happening. If it's bad enough to keep you from leaving the house, I'd also be thinking about heading to the ER just in case. Please keep us updated on how you're doing. Xxxx

Yes, I would definitely be either going to the ER or calling the doctor. If you clean up, can you tell exactly where the blood is coming from? Anus vs around it? Is there a steady source if you place a cloth etc. in the area? You said you slept.....if you are relaxed there is a chance it is leakage vs something on the outside of the body bleeding.

Especially if you haven't seen this before, get looked at by your doctor. Did you see the colour of the blood? Bright red or darker? Any pain associated with it? If you can narrow some of that down, it might help your doctor figure things out a little easier. In any case, you need to be seen.

What sort of tests, if any, did they do? I can see that they might not have wanted to scope right away, but at the very least I would imagine they would do a digital exam to see if there were fissures/hemorrhoids or something of that nature, and maybe even wait for a movement to check for visible/occult blood. Did they do anything?

I'm lucky to have a terrific er near me that are actually very knowledgable of Crohn's and usually atleast point me in the right direction as to whats going on.

Are you having any pain? You could have something brewing "down under", such as a fissure or a fistula. How did the ER visit go? I hope you are feeling better now.

a couple of months ago I had a colonoscopy done and got diagnosed with these

"left-sided Crohn's colitis"
" Linear sigmoid Ulcer"
" Peri-anal fistula"
"internal hemorrhoids"

The ER visit was pointless. They took a catscan and didnt see anything. So they told me just go to my GI.

I hate cat scans. In my experience they never show anything.

Oh wow, ER's usually are not much help unless you are really dying. Seriously, they are only good for emergency situations like gun shot wounds or heart attacks etc... I cannot tell you how much money I have wasted going to the ER. I have NEVER really been helped when I went. All they will do is a CT scan. If nothing drastic shows up, then they will send you on your way and tell you to follow up with your regular doctor or GI doc. I went to the ER a few months back earlier in the year because I was in soo much pain. I thought I was having an appendicitis. They did a CT Scan( and believe me, it was begrudgingly, they did not even want to do that when my blood work came back normal!). All I got was sent home with a $10,000 bill!! No kidding. I now will only go to the ER if I am absolutely dying. My best friends husband has UC. Well he ate some food that made him really sick and he was shitting water and blood for three days. He got so dehydrated that he went to the ER. They did NOTHING for him. In fact they sent him home and he later got the bill, it was over $3000. His insurance would not pay for it saying it was not an emergency! They had to pay the bill. The insurance company said it was his fault for eating food he should not have eaten. They also said that he knew full well he had UC and that his symptoms did not warrant going to the ER!!!! That is messed up. So now he wont ever go back to an ER he said. Sorry for the story, but I just want you to know you are not alone there.

This couldn't have happened on a worser time. I have so much important stuff to do tmrw but im scared if i leave the house ill leak blood again. I wont go to the er either last time i went they didn't do anything and charged me 3 grand

Oh man!! Are you having fevers or anything? Fistulas can bleed, but it usually is a much smaller amount than what you are describing. Are your hemorrhoids any better, or do they bother you a lot? Maybe that could be the culprit. If you do end up with a fever, I would go back to the ER. I know you didn't have a great experience last time, is there a different ER in your area?

Is it the fistula bleeding? Maybe you could put a pad in your boxers? I know that there are other men on the forum who do it. My fistula leaks and I use a panty liner and a round make-up pad against it to stop it from soaking through. I don't have the kind of amount you must be having for it to go through your pants though. Did you ever talk to your GI about it last time?
