bm's shapes and sizes

hi everyone. Just wanting to know is your bm is thin and short segments, does this mean your colon is narrowing. Most ofmine are like that, but I do sometimes get a normal shaped one.

Not always, sometimes it just means you're inflamed. It can be a sign of narrowing, but if you are also getting normal sized ones then I would say its inflammation.

I agree with Katiesue, if you get normal ones, it's probably inflammation. I have noticed that mine are somewhat normal, but flat, early in the morning. They get thinner as the day progresses. Any BMs I have after lunch are flat and no bigger than my pinky. I rarely have BMs after 3pm. This has been a consistent pattern for me for about a year. The only reasonable explanation I ever came up with is that I take my Lialda after lunch. It probably takes a while to work and my inflammation is probably at its lowest first thing in the morning. This is when I usually have multiple BMs. As the day progresses, I guess the meds wear off and the inflammation increases, causing smaller and more difficult BMs. Just my theory...
