Boils and abscesses?

I thought I had an abscess or something not to far from my "exit". The doc drained it, and put me on antibiotics and I was fine for a year or more if I remember correctly. The next time I had trouble with it, it was filling faster than it was draining, and I had to have it removed surgically. It was actually a fistula.
My colorectal surgeon did it, but I had already been seeing him. Not sure if you have to go through your GP first.
I think only your doc will be able to tell you what it is.

Nope.
Just poked a hole and squeezed.
Not any worse than the pain of it itself though.
I would WAY prefer that than the finger up the butt. WAY less painful.

Yep I agree with Dan and moreso if you end up with boils or abcesses in other places like groin, under arms, hips etc.. For years I was told that I must be diabetic yet every time they tested me I was negative and they never looked at any other reasons/causes.
Dan suggested Hidradenitis Suppurativa to me some months back and my Derms Consultant confirmed it.
I now use Clindamycin Lotion which is an antibiotic the minute I notice them starting and it really helps to prevent them from becoming as painful and big as they used to.
I also found that being on remicade has lessened the severity and they are less frequent.

I'll look into it. Its not really painful unless I'm having a really bad day (bathroom about 13 times). I'll talk to my doctor about it and what it may be.

I've had a few. pred did it to me. luckily it's been a VERY long time since I've had an abscess. now if I happen to get a hemorrhoid, I freak out.
