Well I have my botox injections tomorrow. I'm starting to get nervous and I'm sure I will be even more nervous when I get there. At least they told me during the "interview" ( where I think they covered everything from my head..to my toenails haha) that they will give me something to relax me before they sedate me. So at least I wont have to sit there to nervous while I'm waiting for it to start. They didn't do this for my scope 2 months ago and of course the doctor was late, so I'm just laying in the bed hooked up to all the monitors all nervous. Not cool.

So I hope this works and gets rid of the pain I have been suffering with for years finally!

I will be thinking about you Starlight!

All the best,

Well I just got home a little while ago. I am very impressed with this doctor! Like I said in my last thread about my first appointment with her, I think she is the only doctor that has actually been on time! Ahead of time for that matter. We were about an hour away from the hospital when she called me. She said they were running ahead of schedule and told me I could come now and they would take me. Well we were still an hour away( we live 2 1/2 hours away) so that didn't really work out, but we(me and my mom) were taken back right when we got there. They asked me a ton of questions, then she went over everything and had me sign all the papers. Then she explained what pre-op meds they gave and told me they give it in my hip. I think that scared me more than anything!:ywow: She told me how she would put a little lidocaine so the IV wont hurt...I asked if she could put that in my hip instead! Haha I'm used to IVs being on remicade, don't remember ever having a shot in my hip!! Well it wasn't that bad. So after they gave me the meds and started the IV, about 25 minutes later they came and rolled me in the operating room.

Well fast forward to now...It was more complicated than expected. Turns out I have a fissure, hemmoroids, AND a fistula. When she was doing the exam, pus started coming out and that's when she discovered it. So they did the botox injections and had to do surgery on the fistula. They cut it open and sutured it. So hopefully that will work. But I guess these 3 problems defiantly explains what has been causing me so much pain these past couple years!!

So I'm home now resting. Not hurting to much right now, she also injected a lot of local to help with the pain for a while, so that's still in effect. After that is worn off, she prescribed me some pain pills. At least I have the weekend to recover and take it easy. I sure pray the worst of the pain is gone by Monday when I have to go back to work.

Yay! I have never heard of botox treatments for Crohns? I hope you are resting, and let us know how you are doing!

Wow, Starlight, one procedure turned into two and it sounds like you did great regardless.

:rosette2:

Hope the pain is well under control by Monday!

The botox was to treat the fissure and to relax the muscles since my sphincter(sp?) muscles were really tight. They dont want to just cut the fissure out because with crohns patiants, it tends to not heal very well after and it weakens the sphincter mucles, which could cause problems if I ever need surgery. So they wanted to try the botox, which is supposed to relax the muscles long enough to allow the fissure to heal. I hope this made since. lol

Thanks, it does makes sense and alot less painful than surgery if it really helps! You know I still learn on this forum.! :)
