Has anyone gone through this?

After my last colonoscopy a month ago, I was diagnosed with a very severe fissure. Well he is referring me to another Doctor who does botox injections for fissures.

I cant find much information about this anywhere online or nothing. I found websites that explains how it works, but I really want to know what to expect.

I am extremally nervous about this. Are you given sedation, or anything to relax you during the procedure? I do not know how I will be able to do it if not. I am already a very shy person, and Im embarassed enough just having this problem. Its not exactly an area thats easy to talk about.

So if anyone has been through this or knows anything about it, can you please help me out and tell me your experiance with it, and if it worked for you??

I did it like 3 years ago. While they were supposed to have sedated me the sedation didn't take and they went ahead and did it. Honestly, it was one of the worst experiences of my life. I think it helped a little bit, but I was also beginning treatment for Crohn's at the same time, so I am not sure which treatment was helping more?? Another doctor told me later that he never does it. So the take home message is that if you do do it, make sure to be sedated. Some people don't ask for that option, but I recommend it.

I had a botox injection when I had 3 fissures at once. I would never do that again. I had no control for several months after the surgery and I had to go to school and well I crapped myself the 3 days I tried to go back. I was humiliated and suffered very long during this time. I don't tell you this to scare you because it doesn't happen to most people but I was not the usual case. I hope everything goes well for you.

They actually gave me the botox against my will as I wanted them to stitch up the fissures but when she saw I had so many she couldn't do the procedure so she went with the botox instead.

Found out today that if I do defiantly need the injections, I will be sedated. So that takes a lot of weight and nervousness off my shoulders! I go next Thursday, if the Doctor finds that I defiantly need the injections, we are going to try to get it done that day because the place is 2 hours from where we live and no easy to get to. Not to mention I would have to take another day off of work. If we can't, then obviously we will have to reschedule as soon as they have a next opening. Either way, im just so relieved to know that I will not remember any of it!
