My husband is in hospital after having a bowel resection caused by an obstruction - it was done under emergency surgery so he was opened up. It was odd because he has never had any problems with bowel - I'm the one with IBD. He had an episode of terrible constipation two years ago which he had to go to his local doctor in agony and was given laxatives which worked. He then blamed it on some beans he had eaten saying that when he was kid, he used to get terrible stomach pains if he ate certain foods. The surgeon said there was a scar on his small intestine, and as he has had no previous surgery, there is no explanation. Could this be Crohns? My own doctor said it could be. He seems to be recovering OK but has terrible hiccups and acid reflux. The operation was on late Friday night and he has had a few BMs, which the doctors are pleased about but he's left with this heartburn which he has been given a PPI for. Is this normal too post-op? I'm wondered if they are going to send him on his way with no explanation..... :stinks:
