Does anyone have any tricks/solutions to getting rid off gas?

I have tried:
Not eating the gasy foods.
Beeno
Gas x
Hot tea

I will take any suggestions. There are days my stomach is loud, then as predicted there is the pain then gas (always bad and at the worst possible moment).

Any help would be great.
Woops!

Wow, you've tried the best things for it! Peppermint tea used to help me, but if it was a bad day...that didnt work either! My mum used to use charcoal tablets believe it or not. She swore by them. But I dont know if you can still find them at health food stores.

My mum, god rest her, used to say, better out than in, and let rip in a private location as well.

I have lain on my left side on many a bathroom floor (gross) to get rid of gas privately. It's a nightmare. I try Rennies (the chalky/minty acid indigestion tablets) and also peppermint tea, but they don't work so well.

The best way for me unfortunately is to let it out.... otherwise i go round holding it in and feeling more and more stretched, bloated and uncomfortable

It's Sooooo uncomfortable to have to hold it. Makes it feel so much worse, and I find if I hold it for just a bit, afterwards it dosnt want to come out for a while, and my tummy is hugely bloated. Still can't bring myself to fart around people though, except family. :)

I don't have any problems letting it go. Everyone I work with knows I have CD and they can just deal. Now, I do try to walk away, or go to a different room. Sometimes that just can't be helped. I just hate the gurgling noises and the pain. It is annoying, I just wish there was a magic wand out there. If anyone finds it please let me know! Thanks for all the suggestions.
Woops!

I get such bad gas and bloating that holding it's not an option regardless. Half the time, though, I just get these huge, incredibly painful gas bubbles that just sit there for hours at a time. I swear, there are days that I think if I could just bottle that, I could power my car AND my house without it costing me a cent lol I've been mostly dairy free for a couple of years, as I found that dairy really made it far worse and for the past 10 days or so, I've been mostly gluten free. I haven't had the gas and bloating for about a week. I used to take a ton of gas-x, peppermint tea, chamomile tea, warm baths, lying on my stomach (painful, but effective). They were somewhat effective but not always and usually not for long. The gluten and dairy free, though? That's worked for me. At least so far.

Ugh. I have a job interview in 16 hours, and the gurgling from my ileum is unbelievable. I guess I'll follow the recommendations elsewhere in this thread -- peppermint tea, Tums, Beano, Gas-X ... perhaps some ginger? I really hate this :voodoo:

Sometimes, I just get my mum to pat my back and rub my back like a baby. It doesn't always work, but sometimes you can feel a burp trapped and you just need to help it up.. and I can't rub my own back. Lol.

But always let rip if you need to. No point in holding it in because it'll build up until you're so nauseas.

Seriously, my parents must love me.. I walk around the house releasing gas as though there is no tomorrow. And I wonder why i'm single..

There is a drug called simeticone which can help with trapped wind. It doesn't stop you getting gassy, but it can help with pain and help to pass it. It works by causing all the little bubbles of gas to merge together to make larger ones which move through the bowel easier.
It's the same drug that is in 'Infacol' which you give to babies to help with colic pain. I know they use it when doing some kinds of medical scopes if it is hard to see due to bubbles in whichever tract is being examined. They squirt Infacol down the tube!

I think in the UK the adult version comes under the name 'Wind-eze', but I'm sure if you ask any pharmacist for simeticone they could provide a similar product.

My family find the noises which come from my stomach endlessly amusing!

I have tried those charcoal pills, they did not do anything for me except turn my poop black. Ginger tea has been helpful but the best is when my husband rubs my tummy. It moves the gas along.

Good luck with your interview.
