Hello, Im a new one to the group and here is my story. Not to bore you all I will try and make it short and sweet. I was diagnosed the day after my first son was born feb 11 2007 after I was rushed in for surgery because the "pregnancy pains" weren't that at all but my intestine had ruptured a couple weeks previous. The only thing that kept me alive was the intestine basically suctioned itself to the placenta. I was immediatly hooked up with an ileostomy. I never had the regular symptoms of crohns and yet it was severe enough to do some serious damage. The only symptom I had was stomach aches when I ate raw veggies. I was then put on predisone. After several colonoscopies and a year of being misdiagnosed with what the doctor said was still a severe flare up of crohns and turned out to be "misuse colitis" (which is leisions from not using your bowel) I got a reversal done. (Don't let that one happen to you!!) I am not on any drugs now and I have been pretty much symptom free since and had a 2nd succesful pregnancy with no problems.

I do however have one issue and wondering if anyone knows anything that can help. I have severe stomach distention (bloating). Does anyone know anything that helps with that? Thanks in advance for any feedback:)

I find that wheat makes me bloat so badly. Like I make wind as fast as I can break it. Dairy to a lesser extent. Anti gas pills never helped me much. You may have to try cutting certain things out of your diet to see if it helps.

Hi Leigh-Ann, and welcome. I find Ovol helps me (available in Shoppers Drug Mart for sure in Ontario). I was recommended to try Tums Smoothies (Tropical Fruit flavour) for immediate results, and I just tried one this morning, and so far so good. Good luck

Yes Tums are great! and so is Windeeze
I sip cooled down boiled water to help disperse gas, it works!

Yak - bloating and wind - I hate it!
I haven't found any relief from pills either. I just find certain foods make it worse - usually high fat, dairy, high sugar and some veggies.
