Can EGIDs be a precursor to an IBD?

I'm not sure if I really belong in this forum...but I came here with questions in the past, so I don't know. This might be a silly question/worry.

I was diagnosed with Eosinophilic Gastroenteritis (EGE) a little over 2 years ago. It has always presented itself with pretty bad abdominal pain (right lower quadrant), diarrhea/constipation, nausea and vomiting, etc. Recently I've started to flare really bad (last flare was about 6 months ago), with way worse symptoms (weeks of constant vomiting, awful joint pain, pain off the charts, etc.), and I've been wondering to myself whether it may have developed into something else (as stupid as that may sound).

Have any of you ever been diagnosed with a less serious disease prior to your actual diagnoses? Any of you specifically with an EGID (Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Disease)?

My daughter was diagnosed with EGE 2 years ago and just had a colonoscopy done that showed eosinophils throughout the entire colon. Her GI doctors told us that she has a high probability of developing IBD either crohn's or ulcerative colitis, it is not an absolute. She was being treated with cromolyn for her EGE but it was not helping her symptoms at all, which were nausea, sometimes vomiting, right and left lower quadrant pain, constipation and joint pain. She is now on Entocort, ascol, and naprosyn; she feels much better than she has in several years.

The main reason the GI agreed to this new treatment was my dx of crohn's in Nov 2013, if I had been dx with this I am not sure they would have agreed to treat her empirically. I hope this helps you.
