I've recently had a lot of headaches, and I'm not quite sure what has caused them. They seem like they're sinus-related, but not much helps relieve them. Sudafed is my usual go-to, combined with any sort of pan reliever, but that hasn't been very effective. Ibuprofen has worked better than Tylenol, and Benedryl seems to help some, but it knocks me out (which is useful when the headache is at night). Drinking a lot of water hasn't been very helpful with these, so I don't think it's a dehydration headache (which I've had a few times).

The only changes I've found that have any connection to the headaches are starting humira, a new air freshener in my computer room, and tapering off of prednisone (again).

I don't think it's the prednisone, as when I was tapering off before, I would get a different sort of headache, and within 24 hours of reducing my dose. I was tapering by 10mg increments then, this time I'm going by 5mg.

I'm not sure about the air freshener, because I closed it the other day, and still got a headache. I stayed out of the computer room after that, but the headache lasted for more than 12 hours anyway.

I kindof doubt it's the Humira, though, since the first headache was a few days after starting it, and and my second dose of it isn't until tomorrow.

From what I understand, it could just simply be connected to the Crohn's itself, or it might just be bad luck on my part with the headaches (I've had occasional sinus headaches for years, ranging from annoying to almost debilitating). I'm trying to rule things out if I can...I really hope it's not the Humira.

I don't have any idea about the Humira and headaches. I'm on Humira and I get headaches but I really have never associated one with the other. I've had several doctors warn me not to take ibuprofen because of my Crohn's. I would take the stuff like candy for joint pain and when a doctor told to stop my Crohn's settled down somewhat also.

Good to know. I will definitely ask my doctors for more info about ibuprofen, and what I should be taking for pain.

To answer your question. "can Humira cause headaches"? YES! Have you seen the side-effects profile for Humira? I sure would hope that you did your part to get informed about this medicine before agreeing to this treatment. Humira is extremely potent and comes with many possibly permanent health risks. As a patient you should have weighed the risks vs benefits... But yeah, the answer to your question is yes.. a drug like that Humira can cause many unusual or unwanted issues.

Hope you feel better & have a good night!!

The problem with so many medications, is that it would almost be shorter to list the side effects they don't have. In part, I think companies make extensive lists just to cover themselves.

Although my experience has been limited so far, it has taken a lot to get my condition under control. Started with Remicade, and that quickly got things under control, but it was wearing off too fast. I've decided to take my chances with the side-effects, instead of going back to knife-in-the-gut feelings. Maybe sometime later on I can see about getting off of some of the meds...

But I was basically wondering if anyone had experienced headaches as a result of Humira. Can't really rule it out yet.

yes it can cause headaches, it is listed as a "very common side effect (more than 1 in 10 patients)" in the patient information leaflet. Also Migraine is listed as a "common side effect (more than 1 in 100 patients but less than 1 in 10 patients).
