This might seem like a strange question. I find it strange I'm asking it. :ybatty:

On the prescription bottle of my Ondansetron 8mg (for nausea), it says can cause constipation. Undiagnosed, possibly with Crohn's. I haven't had the typical signs you get with undiagnosed Crohn's such as diarrhea, more the opposite.

Is it possible this drug can cause diarrhea? I've just had a nasty bout with it and was woken up with it two mornings ago.

I have been taking digestive enzymes, but the last one I had was 3 days ago because I wondered if that was what caused the first bout of diarrhea and since I work outside in the heat, need all my fluids to keep moving.

The nausea has been a new phenomenon too. I didn't really know why they had prescribed me this, because the nausea only kicks in if I'm in a bout of sickness with cramps and pain. However, it's helped the last three times I've taken it.

Many drugs like diarrhea and constipation as side effects. Personally I haven't had that experience with this one but if you find it keeps happening out of the blue you can attribute it to the drug. I guess it's trial and error unfortunately when it's such a common issue like diarrhea.

Thanks for the input and advice. It was just a weird thing because I'm definitely NOT prone to diarrhea. It would have to be something I induce.

Yeah so I think if you are open to trying it again when you feel good, if it happens you than can isolate that as the definite cause.

Oh definitely. I will try it without any digestive enzymes supplements left in my system (I'm pretty sure they'd be gone now!), but will wait til I need it. It is helpful, but I only got a script for 20.

I haven't personally experienced diarrhea as a side effect of ondansetron. However, it wouldn't really surprise me if that was the cause of your recent bout of D. If you find that it is not worth the side effects, there are other anti-nausea meds that you could get prescribed.

It's been several days since I had that last pill and it should be well and truly out of my system now. I still have diarrhea. It's not affecting me all the time, but my body doesn't want to produce solids - normally, I'd be okay with that, but with the warm weather and my job, I have to try to maintain my electrolytes, water and not crap my pants as I'm rarely close to a bathroom. I don't think the ondansetron is the cause. But I sincerely appreciate everyone's response. It's just good to know because it means if I get a bout of nausea, I don't have to worry about aggravating this new symptom.
