Ryan is sick again and I don't know why he keeps flareing. They don't last very long and I know it's isn't a stomach bug beacuse no one else is sick. I'm just worried that maybe stress from school and football is making his Crohn's worse. He missed school today he is worried about missing school and he just became a starter on the varsity football team he is one of the only freshman so his coach has to push him a little harder. Is it possible that stress can make it worse like contribute to his flare ???

A lot of members do feel like stress plays a role in triggering their flares. I know with C since dx, things seem to ramp up right around the start of school. I can't definitively say that stress/school is what is starting it but I know it can't be helping!

I hope this passes quickly for him!!

Hello, I think stress can play a role for sure in CD. They say the Vega nerve is located in the guts and why some get a queasy stomach when anxious, upset, nervous, etc. One of the best things I ever did/do was to learn meditation ~ relaxation techniques. Very useful to help pull it together. My children learned this at a early age and still use it.
Simple breathing can be truly amazingly helpful too. Have you ever taken a peek into Nadhi sodhana, also known as alternative nostril breathing ~ here is a link http://www.onemedical.com/blog/live-well/breathing-pranayama-techniques/

I hope things improve

I'll bet your son is proud to be a freshman and on varsity...but I can also see where that puts a lot of pressure on him. Hope he gets to feeling better soon.

Stress not only plays a role in Crohn's but also for a normal person in life very badly. But stress can be eliminated totally :) For that you have to support your child with positive encouragement and on his part he needs to do meditation daily for atleast half an hour. If he can do it then you can kill two birds with one stone ie he will be stress free and other thing which'l happen is the symptoms of Crohn's will come down:) Here's wishing all the luck for the boy :)
