I was stressed out while in college and now have a very stressful job. I have not been able to get out of a crohn's flare-up for the past few years and am wondering, is it possible to go into remission while being highly stressed all the time?

My opinion: No. Stress has only ever caused my Crohn's to get worse. Oftentimes it is what triggers a flare. Ah, stress, what a bitch.

Yes it is possible depending on your treatment. Its also possible to stay in remission while under great amounts of stress. It doesn't help any though, that's for sure.

Season changes & Stress are my biggest trigger for a flare. My symptoms always get worse in times of stress. I'm sure it's possible with the right combination of medications & diet but it will be very hard to achieve. I've never really been in 'remission'. My only 'remission' was a spontaneous one and only lasted a few months.

It all depends on how you deal with the stress,

there is meditation, yoga, etc... or if you have or think you have depression and anxiety, there are medications you can take but you should talk to a psychiatrist about it and make sure you check for any possible interactions between the psych meds and your chron's meds, (If you decide to seek that type of treatment)

In addition to the chron's and anemia, I have been taking medication for depression/adhd/anxiety and have asbergers syndrome. Ive been in treatment for the psych issues for 10 years.

Yes, I did. I started a new job just as my GI was arranging for me to see a surgeon for a resection. It's a job in accounting too, which is a new field for me, and having a Pred head and the thought of having surgery just added to the stress.
But I managed to avoid surgery, had three doses of Infliximab and that got me into remission. Still find the job stressful at times, but so far so good.

I think it is possible. I have never been in remission, but the time i remember feeling the best, was the most stressful time in my life when my husband was deployed to Iraq. I found ways to deal with my stress i.e. going to the gym, setting aside time to read my book, and just doing things that make me happy. I hadn't been in remission, but I was the closest I had ever been to it.
