I am newly diagnosed, so I feel like I'm posting a lot of questions lately, but I still have much to learn...
I've been having a hard time sleeping since my diagnosis a couple of weeks ago (even before I started on my meds)...I think it's anxiety induced. Anyway, I started taking something over the counter called "mid-night" as a sleep aid. The main ingredient is melatonin. I've read some articles online that it's not advised to take melatonin when you have an autoimmune disorder. Does anyone take melatonin, or know anything about if it should be taken or not?

Anyone have any advise for a GENTLE sleep aid? I have small children, so I need to be able to wake up if needed.

I take 5 mg of Melatonin when I can't sleep. Melatonin is found naturally in your body, its what regulates your sleep cycle. I can't imagine why you could not take it. I've never had a problem. But I just buy it from the vitamin section and never had it mixed with any other ingredients.

I don't take it myself but ThanksP is right, it's natural from the body. I don't have a specific sleep aid that I take. But if it makes you nervous, give your Dr a call.
