Canasa

DS added canasa due to recurring prolapse . He has crohn's but it also involves his rectum / sigmoid colon among other areas.

Any advice on canasa ?
Right now he is taking it twice a day .

What advice are you looking for?

The stuff gave me horrible diarrhea and I had to stop it after a week. But I was only taking 1 a day.

I used it twice a day with no issues. Not sure there is any advice to give other than if it leaks out it will stain your undergarments because it is oily.

Canasa is very widely used. It's a first line treatment. You'll probably get more help on the treatment forums for 5-ASA, but from what I could gather, aside the 3% of people who get acute allergic reactions on them, it's pretty much a risk-free drug with very little side effects.

Hello there! I have ulcerative colitis in my rectum and sigmoid colon.I started off on pentasa 1gram suppositories at night for a month. They cleared up majority of my symptoms within a week although I had ALOT of gas. I since changed to pentasa granules 2grams twice a day.
The first two-three days I had bad headaches but not sure the two were directly related and have been fine since.
Before pentasa I had bleeding, diarrhea, urgency, gas, cramps and was going 10-25 times a day.
