I have been hearing a lot how cannabis can be used to help with some of the symptoms of Crohn's and other IBDs.

Has anyone used cannabis medically or heard anything official about it?

I have not had any experience with this but there are a few threads on here about it. I think they are in 'the lounge' though and you need to have 50 posts to get in there - someone may correct me if I am wrong here!

Cannabis is discussed in the pain medication forum.

I use it when my gut is really bothering me and it relieves the cramping and nausea better than anything else I've found. (Long hot baths help too.) My problem is if I smoke enough cannabis to relieve my gut pain, I am too stoned to run my business. So I rarely use it. The other problem is it's illegal where I live.

They have given helpful stuff at the mentioned forum place. The cannabis are looking good for such pain relief.I hope it works nicely for my friend, too.

Apparently there are different types of marijuana, and certain types don't give you that stoned feeling? There are a few great threads on this already, but they are located in the lounge. Hang out here for a while and you'll be able to check them out.

I have used and studied cannibus extensively. Different strains do different things. If there are dispensaries in your state than you can go to one and ask about it, but in general there are two main types out there.

Sativas... they are known to give you a bit more of a heady high and actually helps get you moving and keeps you awake. Sativas make you wanna do stuff.

Indicas... they give you a body high, which in turn can help get you sleepy.

If you are having sleeping troubles, indicas are the way to go. If you have stuff to do today, do sativas. Unfortunately, it is illegal in most states, so if you do get it from a "dealer" you need to figure out what you get on your own. Most dealers don't know the difference between sativas and indicas, so it's always good to either find one who does, or when you find a strain you like, see if ur dealer will continue to get it.

The key to not getting too stoned is to smoke only a little at a time. Remember that Cannibus hits you hard because it is smoked, and it is an almost immediate delivery system. So smoke one hit, and sit on it for about 5 minutes. See what happens to your stomach AND your mind. Then take another hit. Everyone is different. I have been smoking almost daily for about 4 years, and I am a lightweight. I get ripped off about 2 hits so an entire joint can last me a day or two.

I can honestly say cannibus helps me. It makes you hungry, happy, relieves pain, and helps you sleep. So if you have a poor appetite, depression, pain, or insomnia, it could be a thing to try. In most states its decriminalized, and remember that as long as you are not driving, it is NOT ILLEGAL TO BE HIGH! It's illegal to possess it, buy it, and sell it, but being high is ok.

I have been smoking/vaporizing since I was 17 & have had crohn's since I was 8. It has helped me more than I can express in this post.

PM me for more info or use TEH GOOGLE. Tons of info out there on the web.

I am a daily smoker. I have had Crohn's for many years as well as Bipolar. I can say that cannabis is wonderful medicine and should be treated as such. It is no worse than hydrocodone or many pharm drugs used to treat pain and other symptoms.

I agree that each person has his/her own tolerance and should take a hit, wait a bit, then take another hit if needed.

MM is not yet available in my state, and if you believe some of the public servants people who smoke MM should be caned! Insano-I think so! So I have to brave the urban jungle to procure my beloved meds. And what about the quality? It's time to legalize Marijuana or, at the very least, make it a medical option. Just like hydrocodone and oxycodone:)

WA in general & Seattle in particular have a very liberal MMJ scene. Tried it with a vaporizer. Several different types of cannabis. For me personally, it did not help. But then, I remain to be convinced what I have is IBD.

I'm new to this area of the page, I seem to be replying to lots of OLD threads...

All I can say is that MJ has been damn near blessing status in my book since i lost health insurance. I was on Entocort but all of us know how expensive that stuff is. It gives me my appetite back and keeps my insides from spazzing all the time. We don't have MMJ here in South Carolina and I think we'll be one of the last seeing as we are in the bible belt.
