cataracts due to Crohns anyone?

I went and had an eye test yesterday and apparently have cataracts in both eyes iam only 45! the optition said that this was common in people with Crohns who have been on long term steroids I have only been on a 8 week course of steroids in my life and that was ages ago.I was just wondering how many of you suffer with your eyes due to crohns. Bev :ywow:

I also have steroid induced cataracts due to long-term, high dose prednisone therapy. I am 43, soon to be 44. My cataracts developed in 2003, but did not begin to worsen until recently. I am currently looking into cataract surgery! Just wanted you to know you are not alone!

Yes Crohn's does affect the eyes even without steroids (although steroids are notorious for it). I don't have cataracts but I do wear glasses now (I'm nearsighted) and the eye doctor said it was likely from my Crohn's.
