I really need to do an introduction about myself but I'm just going to tell about the last few years which has lead me to this point. I had a permanent ileostomy put in July 2014. They had take out my entire rectum because all of the tissue around the J pouch was bad, for lack of better words. I struggled and struggled with having a wound open where my rectum was. When they finally did a muscle flap a year later it turned out to be MRSA. My butt finally healed up but I keep on getting abscesses and/or cyst in my abdomen. I've had these drained and I've had them surgically removed. I also found out the muscle died and some of that had to be removed. The last surgery I had, my insurance company had a gynecologist refute it saying it wasn't necessary. I have had a hysterectomy and that is out of their scope. It makes me very angry because me being in the mental health field I can't go into their scope. I was supposed to have surgery to remove the entire cyst because it's growing again in December but a week before the surgery the insurance denied it. I'm staying in a lot of pain and I've had so much removed but I don't know what to do. I'm in a very limited area for complicated issues like mine. I was banking on this surgery to remove this cyst or abscess. In the mean time, I'm in a stand still and it's in this much pain. Does anybody have any ideas? It wouldn't let me ask the experts.

Hello, im sorry you're having so many problems.

I live in the UK, so I don't have any experience with insurance etc but just wanted to let you know that someone is listening to you.

Hopefully there will be someone along who knows more about this soon, for the mean time I'm sending you hugs and support. Come and vent whenever you need.

Hello! I read your story especially since you have an ileostomy. I call mine Stoma Steve. Anyway, I had wondered what could come of it with time, and the complications. I see you have had many, and I am sorry for you. I hate that insurance companies try to control issues. I am sure you have tried many avenues.....many docs saying it's needed, many calls, trips to the ER, etc. I too am in health care, but in acute care. If I can ask around to people I know with chronic issues and have had to argue for help I will. I myself can't give any advise, but I see a lot of doctors, care practitioners, and even social workers that may he able to. Maybe you need some type of social worker in your corner. Keep posted!
