Certain drugs during pregnancy

So I just found out I am pregnant just over a week ago. I don't know exactly how far along I am yet til next week when I have an ultrasound. That being said I am conflicted with what medication to take while I am pregnant. My GP told me to stop all meds until he can speak to a prenatal medicine specialist and my GI. I have been taking imuran and pentasa. Since I stopped them however, I feel my symptoms coming back I don't know what to do. Pentasa seems to have a good track record during pregnancy. I fear that if I don't do something quick I will go into full blown flare and cause problems with the baby. This is my first child and I'm terrified of doing something wrong. Any advice would help.

Congratulations on your pregnancy. I would call your GI right away and find out what to do. When I was pregnant, I took imuran. My doctor told me it was safe. I also was on predisone during pregnancy due to flaring.

Hi Paislee, Congratulations on your pregnancy. Imuran is safe to take while pregnant. It is more harmful to your baby to stop all meds and get a flare, than it is to continue taking your medications.
